Ylang-ylang is a tropical tree known for its intensely fragrant whitish-yellow flowers.It is mainly grown in Madagascar, Reunion and the Comoros.In the wild the tree can reach a height of 10 to 30 meters, but in cultivation it is pruned to 2 to 3 meters.The flowers of the ylang-ylang tree are distilled for up to 20 hours to extract the essential oil.This oil is an important raw material in perfumery.
