Cutimed Alginate alginate compresses are 10.0 cm x 20.0 cm in size and offer natural exudate management with high absorption capacity.These compresses are made from natural seaweed and are composed of 80% calcium and 20% sodium.They are latex free.

During use, the calcium ions in the wound dressing exchange with the sodium ions in the exudate, converting the alginate into a gel while absorbing fluid.Cutimed Alginate is characterized by high and rapid absorption and retention capacity, which reduces the number of dressing changes and reduces the risk of maceration.It also has a hemostatic effect on wounds that bleed easily.Thanks to the highly flexible fibers, it adapts to any wound base and is easy to cut.

Cutimed Alginate has excellent stability when wet and is easy to cut.The carrier material is a semi-permeable non-woven fabric, which is coated on both sides with natural fibers from seaweed.An integrity layer contained in the product core gives the dressing improved wet stability.

Areas of application

Cutimed Alginate is suitable for the treatment of secondary healing wounds, such as chronic wounds, for example leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers and decubitus ulcers.It can also be used for acute wounds such as split-thickness skin donor sites, abrasions, lacerations and first and second degree burns.

It is suitable for moderate to heavily exuding wounds such as superficial injuries, hollow wounds, pressure sores, diabetic ulcers and venous/arterial leg ulcers.Donor areas and postoperative wounds can also be treated with it.Cutimed Alginate can also be used under compression therapy.

Duration of application

The duration of application depends on the condition of the wound, in particular on the amount of exudate.The dressing should be changed depending on the patient and the wound situation, but at the latest after 7 days.Continuous use should not exceed 30 days in total.
