Area of application

Döderlein vaginal capsules are used to restore and maintain the natural vaginal flora in the event of non-specific disorders of the natural vaginal environment, such as discharge (fluor vaginalis).The natural vaginal mucosa plays a crucial role in defending against harmful germs and thus for women's health.The woman's vaginal environment is colonized by so-called Döderlein bacteria, which consist primarily of lactic acid bacteria.The largest proportion is Lactobacillus gasseri.

Mode of action

The vaginal flora can be thrown out of its natural balance by influencing factors such as taking antibiotics, illnesses, mental stress, excessive genital hygiene or changing partners.Fungal infections and therefore discharge, redness, pain or itching can be the unpleasant consequences.Döderlein vaginal capsules contain viable cultures of Lactobacillus gasseri.Their metabolism mainly produces lactic acid, which is responsible for the acidic pH value of the vaginal environment, which prevents the reproduction of pathogenic germs.In addition, the bacteria produce hydrogen peroxide, which also inhibits the growth of pathogens or yeast fungi.This helps ward off harmful organisms and combat symptoms such as discharge or itching.

Each capsule contains viable, freeze-dried cultures of Lactobacillus gasseri (Döderlein bacteria) at 10^10 to 10^11 KBE/g (this corresponds to 2 x 10^8 to 2 x 10^9 KBE/capsule);lactose;anhydrous lactose;Gelatin;titanium dioxide (E171);Palmitoyl ascorbic acid.The product contains fructose, invert sugar (honey), lactitol, maltitol, isomaltitol, sucrose or sorbitol.It must not be used in patients with hereditary fructose intolerance.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients mentioned, this product should not be used.Döderlein vaginal capsules are not suitable for infants and small children.Patients between 12 and 18 years of age should consult their doctor before use.The simultaneous use of antimicrobial agents can reduce the effectiveness of Döderlein vaginal capsules.Treatment with estrogens during menopause can increase the effectiveness of Döderlein vaginal capsules.

Dosage

In order to achieve the best possible treatment success, Döderlein vaginal capsules must be used according to the instructions for use.Unless otherwise prescribed, insert 1 vaginal capsule deep into the vagina daily to restore the natural vaginal flora.To maintain the natural vaginal flora, inserting 1 capsule per week is sufficient.The vaginal capsules are best inserted deep into the vagina in the evening before going to bed.If necessary, treatment can be continued for a longer period of time.Discontinue treatment for the duration of menstruation.If your symptoms worsen or do not improve, please tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Patient information

If you have used too many Döderlein vaginal capsules, please inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.If you have used too few Döderlein vaginal capsules or have forgotten to use them, do not use twice the amount next time, but continue using them as described in the dosage instructions.If you interrupt the treatment or end the application prematurely, you must expect that the desired effect will not be achieved or that the clinical picture will worsen again.

Pregnancy

There are no concerns about using Döderlein vaginal capsules during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before use.

Notes

Do not store above 20°C.Use within 10 weeks of opening the pack.The container must be closed tightly again after each capsule has been removed.Do not use the capsules after the expiry date printed on the package.Keep out of the reach of children.
