Area of application

Salicylic Vaseline 5% is a callus agent that is used externally.It is used for increased callus formation, known as hyperkeratosis, as well as for corns and calluses.This product is available without a prescription.

The ointment contains the active ingredient salicylic acid in a concentration of 50 mg.Low-viscosity paraffin and white petroleum jelly are included as excipients.

Contraindications

Salicylic Vaseline 5% must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to salicylic acid or any of the other ingredients.Its use is also not permitted in cases of contact hypersensitivity, during pregnancy, in infants and with impaired kidney function.

Dosage

The ointment should always be used according to the instructions.Children aged one year and over are allowed to use a maximum of 4 grams of ointment per day, although the maximum daily dose of the active ingredient should not exceed 0.2 grams.Adults are allowed to use a maximum of 40 grams of ointment per day, with a maximum active ingredient dose of 2.0 grams. It is used once or twice a day.

The ointment should not be used for more than three days without medical advice.In case of overdose you should contact your doctor.

Intake

The ointment is intended for application to the skin.Protect the surrounding skin with a fatty ointment or paste.Avoid contact with mucous membranes and eyes.

Patient information

The ointment should not be used on infants.There is no experience that indicates an impairment of the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

The use of salicylic petroleum jelly 5% is not permitted during pregnancy.The ointment must not be used in the breast area during breastfeeding.Breastfeeding women may only use the ointment to treat corns for areas of up to 5 square centimeters.

Notes

The removal of corns and calluses can be promoted with a warm foot bath.If necessary, the application can be repeated.The absorption of the active ingredient into the bloodstream can be increased in the case of inflammatory changes in the skin or skin erosion.
