Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to potassium chloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The preparation must also not be used in diseases that are often associated with an increase in blood potassium levels above the norm (hyperkalemia).These include impaired excretory kidney function, dehydration, Addison's disease, adynamia episodica hereditaria, sickle cell anemia, metabolic imbalances in the acidic range such as diabetic acidosis and increased blood potassium levels due to potassium shifts from the intracellular to the extracellular space.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor, pharmacist or nurse has told you.The dosage depends on the potassium loss to be compensated for and will be adjusted personally for you by the doctor.The recommended dose, unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, is: To prevent potassium deficiency, generally 2 - 3 capsules daily (corresponding to 16 - 24 mmol potassium ions).You can start with a dosage of 3 x 1 capsule daily.The dosage should then be adjusted to your personal potassium needs if necessary.To treat potassium deficiency, take 5 - 12 capsules daily (corresponding to 40 - 96 mmol potassium ions).You can start with a dosage of 3 x 2 capsules daily.The dosage should then be adjusted to your personal potassium needs if necessary.

As long as the cause of the potassium deficiency persists, continued administration of the preparation is recommended.In other cases, days to weeks are often enough to compensate for the potassium deficiency.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.
