Instructions for use of the article Arnica Comp./formica Ointment Important information (obligatory data): Arnica comp./formica ointment. Indications: According to the anthroposophical understanding of man and nature, the areas of application include subacute and chronic stages of rheumatic diseases and degenerative processes in the locomotor system. INFORMATION FOR USE: INFORMATION FÜR DEN ANWENDER Arnica comp./Formica ointment Dear patient, please read the entire leaflet carefully before you start using this medicine, as it contains important information for you. The leaflet contains: 1. WAS IST ARNICA COMP./FORMICA UND WOFÜR WIRD ES USED? Arnica comp./Formica is an anthroposophical medicinal product for disorders of the locomotor system. Indications: According to the anthroposophical understanding of man and nature, the indications include subacute and chronic stages of rheumatic diseases and degenerative processes in the locomotor system. 2. NOTE WAS MÜSSEN SIE VOR DER ANWENDUNG VON ARNICA COMP./FORMICA? Arnica comp./formica must not be used: - if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to arnica, rosemary oil, sesame oil, any of the other ingredients or to composite flowers. - in children under 12 years of age. Precautions for use: The ointment should not be applied to wounds or acutely inflamed skin areas. In case of acute conditions, e.g. redness, swelling or overheating of joints, as well as persistent or periodically recurring complaints, please consult a doctor. Contact of the ointment with open wounds, eyes and mucous membranes should be avoided. Please wash your hands thoroughly with soap after applying the ointment. Children: Arnica comp./Formica ointment should be used in adolescents from 12 to under 18 years of age only as prescribed by a doctor. Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Ask your doctor for advice before using any medicines during pregnancy and while breast-feeding. During breast-feeding, Arnica comp./Formica should not be applied in the area of the nipples. Interactions with other medicinal products: None known. Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Important information about certain ingredients of Arnica comp./Formica: Wool wax and wool wax alcohols may cause local skin reactions (contact dermatitis). Butylated hydroxytoluene (contained in wool wax alcohols) may cause local skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis), irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes. 3. HOW TO USE WIE IST ARNICA COMP./FORMICA? Always use Arnica comp./Formica exactly as your doctor has told you. Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is: adults rub a 2 cm strand of ointment into the skin 2 times a day, adolescents aged 12 and over rub a 1 cm strand of ointment into the skin 2 times a day over the painful areas. Duration of use: The attending doctor decides on the duration of use. If the symptoms do not improve after a treatment period of about one week, please consult your doctor. If you forget to use Arnica comp./Formica: Do not use a double dose if you have forgotten to use it before. 4. WELCHE NEBENWIRKUNGEN SIND POSSIBLE? Like all medicines, Arnica comp./Formica can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. When preparations containing arnica are applied to the skin, allergic reactions in the form of itching and reddening of the skin with the formation of blisters (eczema) may occur, usually as a result of pre-existing allergies or because of so-called cross-reactions in the case of hypersensitivity to other composite flowers such as chrysanthemums. Frequent and prolonged use may promote the development of new allergies to arnica. Sesame oil can rarely cause severe allergic reactions. Rosemary oil may cause hypersensitivity reactions (including respiratory distress) in persons sensitised to it. 5. WAS IST SONST NOCH IMPORTANT? You must not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the tube and folding box. Storage conditions: Do not store above 30°C. Composition: 10 g contain: Active ingredients: Aconitum napellus Ø 0.15 g / 0.7 g ethanol. Extract of Arnica montana, Planta tota rec. (1:1,1) / Betulae folium, ethanol. Decoctum 20 % [HAB, V. 12q, Ø mit Ethanol 30 % (m/m)] 0.2 g / Mandragora, ethanol. Decoctum Ø 0.3 g / 0.3 g Glycerol extract of Formica rufa ex anim. tot. (1:3) / Rosmarini aetheroleum 0.1 g.
