Areas of application
Arnica comp./Formica ointment is an anthroposophic medicine that is used for diseases of the musculoskeletal system.According to the anthroposophical knowledge of humanity and nature, it is particularly suitable for subacute and chronic stages of rheumatic diseases as well as for degenerative processes in the musculoskeletal system.No prescription is required for this product.
Important notes
Arnica comp./Formica ointment must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to arnica, rosemary oil, sesame oil, any of the other ingredients or to daisy plants.The ointment should also not be used on children under 12 years of age.The ointment should not be applied to wounds or acutely inflamed skin areas.In the case of acute conditions, for example accompanied by redness, swelling or overheating of joints, as well as persistent or periodically recurring symptoms, please consult a doctor.Contact of the ointment with open wounds, eyes and mucous membranes should be avoided.Please wash your hands thoroughly with soap after using the ointment.
Children
Arnica comp./Formica ointment should only be used in young people aged 12 to under 18 as prescribed by a doctor.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Ask your doctor for advice before using any medicines during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.Arnica comp./Formica should not be applied to the nipple area during breastfeeding.
Interactions with other medicines
None known.Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.
Important information about certain components of Arnica comp./Formica
Wool wax and wool wax alcohols can trigger localized skin reactions (contact dermatitis).Butylhydroxytoluene (contained in wool wax alcohols) can cause localized skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis), irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.
Application
Always use Arnica comp./Formica exactly as your doctor has told you.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: adults rub a 2 cm long strand of ointment twice a day, and rub a 1 cm long strand of ointment into the skin over the painful areas twice a day for young people aged 12 and over.The treating doctor decides on the duration of use.If your symptoms do not improve after treatment for around a week, please consult your doctor.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Arnica comp./Formica can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.When using preparations containing arnica on the skin, allergic reactions in the form of itching and reddening of the skin with blistering (eczema) can occur, usually as a result of pre-existing allergies or because of so-called cross-reactions due to hypersensitivity to other composite plants such as chrysanthemums.Frequent and prolonged use can promote the development of new allergies to arnica.Sesame oil can rarely cause severe allergic reactions.Rosemary oil can cause hypersensitivity reactions (including shortness of breath) in appropriately sensitized people.
Composition
10 g contains: Active ingredients: Aconitum napellus Ø 0.15 g / 0.7 g ethanol.Extract from Arnica montana, Planta tota rec.(1:1.1) / Betulae folium, ethanol.Decoctum 20% [HAB, V. 12q, Ø mit Ethanol 30 % (m/m)] 0.2 g / Mandragora, ethanol.Decoctum Ø 0.3 g / 0.3 g glycerol extract from Formica rufa ex anim. tot. (1:3) / Rosmarini aetheroleum 0.1 g.Ointment base: Refined sesame oil, lanolin, yellow wax, lanolin alcohols, purified water.
Storage
You must not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the tube and carton.Storage conditions: Do not store above 30°C.
