Tantum Verde is a medicine in the form of lemon flavoured lozenges. The active substance in Tantum Verde is benzydamine hydrochloride. It is used for the symptomatic local treatment of pain and irritation of the mouth and throat in adults and children aged 6 years and over. Certain precautions should be observed when using Tantum Verde. The medicine must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to benzydamine hydrochloride or other ingredients. Special care should be taken in patients with phenylketonuria, asthma or hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other anti-inflammatory drugs. In case of sugar intolerance, the medicine should only be used after consultation with the doctor. If there is no improvement in the symptoms within 3 days or the pain worsens, a doctor should be consulted. The dosage of Tantum Verde is one lozenge 3 times a day for adults and children 6 years and older. The tablets should be dissolved slowly in the mouth and not swallowed or chewed. The maximum duration of treatment is 7 days. Tantum Verde may occasionally cause side effects such as redness or sunburn in sensitive skin.
