Information for use with the article Tantum Verde 3 mg Lozenges Orange-Honey: Tantum Verde Orange Honey Flavoured 3 mg Lozenges contains the active substance benzydamine hydrochloride and is used for the symptomatic local treatment of pain and irritation of the mouth and throat. It should not be used if you are hypersensitive to benzydamine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients. Special care should be taken in patients who suffer or have suffered from asthma, hypersensitivity to aspirin or other painkilling or anti-inflammatory medicines and sugar intolerance. If symptoms persist or worsen, a doctor should be consulted. Tantum Verde is sucked or melted slowly in the mouth and should not be swallowed or chewed whole. The usual dose for adults and children over 6 years of age is one lozenge 3 times a day, taken under adult supervision. The duration of treatment should not exceed 7 days. Possible side effects of Tantum Verde may include skin redness, burning mouth, dry mouth and hypersensitivity reactions. In case of increased photosensitivity of the skin, UV-radiation should be avoided. The medicinal product should be stored away from heat and moisture. Certain contraindications should be noted, such as hypersensitivity to the ingredients or bronchial asthma. During pregnancy and lactation, the use of Tantum Verde should be avoided or discussed with a doctor. Children under 6 years of age should not use the medicine. The lozenges contain benzydamine hydrochloride, isomalt, citric acid monohydrate, orange flavour, honey flavour, levomenthol, quinoline yellow and yellow orange S as other ingredients. The active ingredient benzydamine has an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antibacterial effect. There is a possibility of side effects such as increased photosensitivity of the skin.
