Area of application
This medicine is a vitamin used to prevent and treat bleeding caused by vitamin K deficiency.It is used to treat vitamin K deficiency conditions that cannot be corrected through diet.These include preventing vitamin K deficiency in newborns whose mothers have taken certain medications and treating patients at increased risk of vitamin K deficiency.It is also used in patients with vitamin K deficiency bleeding, which is often accompanied by an elevated INR-value.This bleeding can be caused by a true vitamin K deficiency or by an overdose of certain medications.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
This medicine contains 10 mg of phytomenadione, also known as vitamin K1.In addition, it contains the following excipients: 3-sn-phosphatidylcholine (from soybeans), glycocholic acid, sodium hydroxide, concentrated hydrochloric acid, water for injections and sodium ions.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to phytomenadione (vitamin K1) or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.It must not be used in newborns as a different potency is available for this patient group.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare professional.For the prevention of vitamin K deficiency in pregnant women taking certain medications, the recommended dose is 10 to 20 mg of vitamin K1 orally, 48 hours to a few hours before delivery.For severe or life-threatening vitamin K deficiency bleeding, vitamin K1 should be administered slowly intravenously in a dosage of 5 to 10 mg.The dosage may vary depending on the anticoagulant and INR-value.Adjusted dosage may be necessary for patients with admission disorders or elderly patients.Children over 1 year old should receive a dosage determined by their doctor.
Intake
This medicine can be administered orally or intravenously.For oral administration, the required amount should be withdrawn using a syringe and placed directly into the patient's mouth.You should then drink more liquid.Because of the glycocholic acid content, the drug must not be used parenterally in cases of jaundice with bile stasis.Patients with an increased tendency to bleed should not have the medicine injected intramuscularly.
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before using the medicine.The medicine should be administered orally, particularly in cases of jaundice with bile stasis or severe liver dysfunction.Patients with an elevated INR-value must not have the drug injected intramuscularly.Self-treatment of anticoagulant treatment with coumarin derivatives is dangerous and should be avoided.Newborns and children under 1 year of age should not receive the medicine.There are no known effects on the ability to drive or use machines.
