Apple pectin flakes are high-fibre food supplements made from apple pectin and apple fibre. They have a fruity flavour and are easily soluble. Fibre is important for good digestion and consists of plant fibres such as cellulose and pectin. They are low in calories and promote the transport of substances in the intestines. Before each meal, you can stir 5 heaped teaspoons (10 g) of the flakes into 100 ml of water or mix them into juices, yoghurt, quark or muesli. A daily ration (30 g) contains 7.2 g apple pectin. It is pointed out that the recommended intake should not be exceeded and that the flakes should be stored out of the reach of children. It is also emphasised that food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.
