Contraindications

Oralpädon® must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to one of the components, suffer from acute and chronic impairment of kidney function, have insatiable vomiting, have clouding of consciousness or shock due to severe dehydration, suffer from a disorder of the acid-base balance with hypoacidification of the blood or have disorders of carbohydrate absorption from the intestine.

Treatment is not indicated if absorption of the ingested fluid from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood is not possible or is only partially possible, e.g. in the case of acute intestinal obstruction.

Dosage

The recommended use for Oralpädon® 240 Neutral electrolyte powder is as follows:

Infants and young children should take 3-5 sachets in 24 hours, equivalent to one to one and a half times the daily drinking amount.Children should take 1 sachet after each bowel movement, while adults should take 1-2 sachets after each bowel movement.

One sachet of Oralpädon® is dissolved in 200 ml of drinking water and drunk.If drinking water is not available, freshly boiled and cooled water can also be used.The amount of liquid must be strictly adhered to in order to achieve the optimal composition of salts, sugar and liquid.The solution should only be prepared immediately before ingestion and should not be kept at room temperature for more than 1 hour or in the refrigerator for 24 hours.The prepared solution should not be boiled.

If nausea or vomiting occurs at the same time, Oralpädon® should be drunk in small sips until the required dose is reached.

Children and adults take Oralpädon® until the diarrhea subsides, but no more than 36 hours.For infants and small children, the treating doctor determines the duration of use, which is usually 6-12 hours and should not exceed 24 hours.

It is important to ensure adequate fluid intake alongside therapy.Since any diarrhea can be a sign of a serious illness, if it lasts for a long time and/or if your general health is impaired, you should consult a doctor immediately.Patients with cardiac insufficiency and high blood pressure should consult their doctor before starting treatment about the amounts of fluid and sodium consumed.Because of the high glucose content, the medicine should only be used by diabetics after consulting their doctor.A doctor should always be consulted when treating diarrhea in infants and small children.Effects on the ability to drive and use machines have not yet been reported, but side effects could affect the ability to react.
