Instructions for use of Tegaderm 3M Alginate compresses

Tegaderm 3M Alginate compresses are sterile calcium alginate fibers that are used as a highly absorbent compress or tamponade.They are particularly suitable as a primary wound dressing for more weeping, covered or deeper ulcers.The alginate fibers, together with the wound exudate, form a gelatinous layer that traps germs and cell debris and promotes autolytic wound cleaning.

The compresses are soft and drapeable, combine high absorption capacity with high structural strength and do not stick to the wound.They can easily be removed in one piece.

Areas of application

Tegaderm 3M Alginate compresses are used as a wound filler or primary wound dressing for ideally moist wound treatment, absorption and support of autolytic debridement in all moderately to heavily exuding wounds.They are not suitable for application to tendons, ligaments and bones.

Application

Place the compress on the wound surface or in deep wounds.The compress can also be cut to the desired size.For rather dry wounds, you can moisten the bandage with Ringer's or saline solution.Cover the compress with a secondary dressing.

Remove Tegaderm Alginate if necessary or after 7 days at the latest.It can be removed in one piece.Any remaining fibers can be flushed out of the wound or easily absorbed by the body.
