This medicine contains 2.5 g of hexacalcium hexanatrium trihydrogen heptakis (citrate), which corresponds to 8.5 mmol calcium ions, 8.5 mmol sodium ions and 10 mmol citrate ions.It also contains 195 mg of sodium ions.

Area of application

The medicine is used to treat metabolic acidification of the blood, also called metabolic acidosis.It is used in adults to treat it and prevent it from recurring.No prescription is required for this product.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to the active ingredient, suffer from metabolic alkalinization of the blood (metabolic alkalosis) or have an increased serum calcium level (hypercalcemia).

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose at the start of therapy is 2 to 3 times daily to normalize the blood pH value.This corresponds to 10 to 15 g of calcium sodium hydrogen citrate 6:6:3:7.For maintenance therapy, take 1 dose twice daily, which corresponds to 5 g of calcium sodium hydrogen citrate 6:6:3:7.In milder cases, 1 dose daily, i.e. 2.5 g of calcium sodium hydrogen citrate 6:6:3:7, may be sufficient.The duration of use is determined by the doctor.Do not take the product without medical advice as the acidity of your blood should be determined first.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if the effect is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken more than you should, please talk to your doctor, who will provide appropriate treatment for metabolic alkalosis that may occur in the event of an overdose.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose, but continue taking it as planned.Before you stop taking the product, be sure to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about it.If you have any further questions about taking the medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

The granules are mixed with a glass of cold or warm water and stirred with a teaspoon until a milk-like liquid is formed.You should drink this in sips within 30 minutes, if possible after meals.If there is any sediment, please dissolve it by stirring it with a little water and drinking it in sips.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Particular caution is required in cases of excretory disorders, renal insufficiency, failure to excrete urine or dehydration of the body due to severe fluid loss.There is no experience with the treatment of children and adolescents, therefore use in this age group is not recommended.The medicine has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.To date, there is no or only very limited experience with the use of calcium sodium hydrogen citrate 6:6:3:7 in pregnant women.For precautionary reasons, use of the preparation should be avoided during pregnancy.It is not known whether calcium sodium hydrogen citrate (6:6:3:7) or its metabolites are excreted in breast milk.A risk to the newborn or child cannot be ruled out.There are no data on effects on male and female fertility.

Notes

The effect of the medication should be checked by the doctor at regular intervals.If you have a low-salt diet, the sodium content of the medication should be taken into account.
