Application and dosage

Psyllium husks are rich in swelling and mucus-forming fiber.Two teaspoons of psyllium husks are recommended for daily use, taken with around 300 milliliters of water.The peels can also be easily stirred into yoghurt, muesli or fruit puree and thus offer a tasty addition.It is important to consume a sufficient amount of liquid, around one to two liters of water, throughout the day.

Notes

In some cases, the swelling effect of psyllium husks can lead to a feeling of fullness, lack of appetite or flatulence.In such situations, the amount taken may be reduced or the intake may be temporarily interrupted.

The active ingredient should not be taken if you are hypersensitive to psyllium, if you have hardened stools in the form of fecal stones or fecal impaction, if you have anal bleeding that has not been clarified by a doctor, if you have an impending or existing intestinal obstruction or giant intestine (megacolon syndrome) and if there are narrow areas (stenoses) in the gastrointestinal tract.

If you have discomfort and pain in the abdomen, nausea and vomiting, or after a sudden change in stool consistency that lasts longer than two weeks, psyllium should not be used until the causes have been clarified by a doctor.If you have diverticulosis, it is advisable to consult a doctor before taking it.
