The BGStar test strips are specially designed for the BGStar and MyStar measuring systems to quantitatively measure the blood sugar value in fresh capillary whole blood samples.These test strips are not suitable for diagnosing diabetes, measuring blood glucose in newborns, or determining blood glucose from arterial or venous blood.

Mode of action

The BGStar test strips contain the enzyme glucose oxidase (GOx) and a chemical mediator.These components produce an electrochemical signal that is proportional to the glucose concentration in the blood sample.The meter measures this signal and corrects common analytical interference, such as hematocrit, using dynamic electrochemistry.

The BGStar test strips offer a simple and reliable method for measuring blood sugar.They are intended for use with whole blood and provide precise results that can be crucial in determining the correct amount of insulin.These test strips are particularly useful for people who need to monitor their blood sugar up to eight times a day.

Application

To measure blood sugar with the BGStar test strips, you should first wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and dry them.Remove the lancing device cap, insert a new lancet and adjust the puncture depth.Insert a new test strip into the meter and puncture with the lancing device on a fingertip.When the blood drop icon appears on the meter, hold the blood sample to the tip of the test strip.After the result is shown on the display, you can remove and discard the used test strip.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, the product should not be used.

Notes

The container should be closed tightly again immediately after removing a test strip.The test strips contain glucose oxidase (from Aspergillus niger) and should not be reused.Please note the instructions for use.Please dispose of used test strips properly.

Storage and handling

Store the BGStar test strips in a cool, dry place at 8°C to 30°C.Use the test strips only within the operating temperature range of 10°C to 40°C and protect them from direct sunlight and heat.Always keep the test strips in their original container and close the container tightly again immediately after removing a test strip.Do not use the test strips after the expiration date or 180 days after first opening the container.

Chemical composition

Each BGStar test strip contains glucose oxidase (Aspergillus niger) (2.7 IU) and hexamine ruthenium(III)chloride (45.7 µg).
