Laxbene junior is an osmotic laxative that facilitates bowel movements by increasing the amount of water in the stool. It is used to treat constipation in children aged 6 months to 8 years. It should be used in conjunction with appropriate lifestyle and dietary changes. The recommended dosage is 1 sachet per day for children 6 months to 1 year, 1 to 2 sachets per day for children 1 to 4 years and 2 to 4 sachets per day for children 4 to 8 years. The effect occurs within 24 to 48 hours after taking the medicine. The medicine contains macrogol 4000 as the active substance and sulphur dioxide E 220 as a warning. It should not be used for longer than 3 months. Side effects may include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain. The exact dosage and application should be done after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist. It should not be used if there is an allergy to macrogol or other components of the medicine, bowel disease, intestinal obstruction or gastrointestinal problems.
