The Cleartest breath alcohol test is a screening test that can be used to detect the influence of alcohol or to prevent drunk driving.It is accurate and reliable, easy to use and delivers results within 2 minutes.No prescription is required for this product.

Test principle

The test is intended for the semi-quantitative and rapid detection of alcohol in exhaled air.It provides information about the relative blood alcohol concentration (BAK) at detection limits of 0.02%, 0.04%, 0.05%, 0.06%, 0.08% or 0.10%.The test relies on a chemical reaction in which alcohol reacts with the crystals in the test to cause a color change.The degree of color change depends on the amount of alcohol in the breath.

Materials

Included are tests, a package insert and optional air bags.A stopwatch is also required.

Instructions for use

Wait 15 minutes after your last alcohol intake or drink a glass of water before the test.Before opening, bring the bag to room temperature (15-30°C or 59-86°F).Remove the test from the sealed bag and do not touch the mouthpiece to avoid contamination.

Hold the center of the test and squeeze to break the inner glass tube.Perform the test as quickly as possible to avoid the effects of moisture.Do not crush or bend the test.

Breathe into the test.For the breath alcohol test without an air bag, hold the test horizontally in the middle, take a deep breath and blow strongly into the mouthpiece in the direction of the test arrows.Blow forcefully in one continuous exhalation for 12 seconds.Shake the test gently to distribute the crystals evenly throughout the test window.

For the air bag breath alcohol test, insert the test into the air seal neck of the air bag in the direction of the test arrows and roll until the test window is completely covered.Hold the test horizontally in the middle, inhale deeply and blow vigorously into the mouthpiece of the test until the air bag is fully inflated.Remove the test from the air bag and shake gently to distribute the crystals evenly throughout the test window.

Read the result after 2 minutes by checking the color of the majority of the crystals.Do not read any more results after 5 minutes.

Interpretation of the results

For best results, compare the crystals from the used test with the crystals from an unused test with the same detection limit.

Negative: The majority of the crystals remain yellow-orange.The relative BAK is below the detection limit of the test.The crystals may be brighter than the crystals of an unused test.

Positive: The majority of the crystals are green-blue.The relative BAK is above the detection limit of the test.

Precautions

Do not use the product after the expiration date printed on the sealed bag.Keep out of the reach of children.Do not swallow or eat the crystals.Do not use the test again.Do not use if the inner glass tube is broken or the crystals are not yellow.The results are influenced by color perception and the lighting conditions when reading the test.Do not immerse in liquid.Dispose of properly.

Storage and shelf life

Store in packaging.Leave the test in the sealed bag until use.Store at room temperature or refrigerated (2-30°C).Do not freeze.Do not expose the test to direct sunlight or leave it near heat sources.

Restrictions

Alcohol impairs judgment.The test should be carried out by a person who is not under the influence of alcohol.The Cleartest breath alcohol test is a screening test and cannot detect the exact blood alcohol concentration.Confirm results with an approved breathalyzer test before taking legal action.Actions taken by any person based on the results of the test are at each person's own risk.

Failure to wait 15 minutes after the last intake of alcohol or to drink a glass of water before the test may result in false results.Wait 15 minutes after using over-the-counter medications, eating, smoking, or chewing gum before taking the test.These products may produce false positive results.

People who are color blind or have impaired vision should not read results.Read the test under incandescent light, fluorescent light, or indirect sunlight.Don't read it under streetlights.Sodium vapor from street lights can cause colors to appear different.Use a flashlight to read the results.Aim the light toward the side of the test, not directly at it.

Gender, age, physical condition and the amount of food or drugs consumed can affect the test.People under the influence of alcohol may have a negative test result.The test is highly sensitive to alcohol and alcohol vapors in the air.Perform the test in an area where no fumes are present.
