The Arabin cube pessary is made of tissue-friendly silicone and features a button to which a retaining thread is attached to make changing easier.It can be stored at room temperature between 1 and 30 °C, being protected from UV-radiation and direct contact with reactive media such as gas, ozone or mineral oil.The pessary is perforated and has a size of 37 mm.

Scope of application

The cube pessary is used to treat various degrees of vaginal prolapse.In the event of a prolapse in which the vagina is partially turned out, the pessary can help to return the lowered organs such as the bladder, uterus and/or rectum to their original position.Thanks to its suction cup effect, it holds better than other pessary shapes, although the perforated version is easier to handle but is less secure.Cube pessaries are also suitable for loosening scars, dilating vaginal tightness, problems with bladder emptying, discomfort during sexual intercourse and in preparation for planned operations.Thanks to the flexible silicone, the pessary can usually be inserted and removed effortlessly.

Use

During the initial examination, the treating doctor adjusts the pessary.After initial instructions from a doctor or specialist, the wearer can remove the pessary herself every evening and reinsert it in the morning to give the vaginal walls a rest overnight.In some cases it may make sense to wear the pessary at night, but only if ordered by the treating doctor.In the event of a major prolapse, a smaller pessary can be inserted at night for patients requiring care, always in consultation with the doctor.When inserting the pessary, it is beneficial to apply an ointment over 2-3 edges of the cube to create a gliding effect and improve tissue blood flow.The choice of cream or ointment should be discussed with the attending gynecologist.

To insert the pessary, position yourself similarly to inserting a tampon by placing your foot on a chair or the edge of the bed or insert the pessary lying down or leaning against a wall.The cube is inserted into the vagina as far as possible until it sits correctly and does not cause pressure discomfort.To remove it, release the vacuum by moving back and forth and pull the cube down on the thread until resistance is felt by the pelvic floor muscles.The accessible edges of the pessary are moved with the fingers to release the vacuum before the pessary is removed with gentle tension.If the patient is unable to urinate or incontinence is increased by the pessary, the pessary should be removed and a smaller model chosen.Any complaints during pessary therapy should be reported immediately.

The maximum continuous wearing time is 30 days.However, it is strongly recommended that you remove the pessary every evening and reinsert it in the morning.The patient should be informed by a medical professional about the use, change and possible accompanying therapy.It helps to use different creams during insertion, which the doctor should explain.The product may only be used on a single patient.Before each insertion, the surface and size of the pessary must be checked.If cracks or discoloration are observed, the pessary should be replaced before reuse.The button must point towards the uterus and the thread towards the vaginal opening.The pessary should be cleaned under running water without using disinfectant.
