What is Squamasol solution and what is it used for?

Squamasol solution contains the active ingredient salicylic acid and is a keratolytic, i.e. a peeling agent that is used to treat scalp diseases.It is suitable for dissolving scales and crusts in diseases such as psoriasis of the head, dermatitis seborrhoides capitis and pityriasis sicca.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Squamasol solution is salicylic acid.1 g of solution contains 100 mg of salicylic acid.The other ingredients are butylhydroxytoluene (E321), macrogol-7-glycerol cocoate, macrogol glycerol ricinoleate, macrogol-5-oleyl ether, sodium dodecyl sulfate, native castor oil, glycerol monostearate, propylene glycol, palmitoyl ascorbic acid (E304) and citric acid (E330).

Areas of application

Squamasol solution is used to treat scalp diseases where dandruff and crusts need to be loosened.These include psoriasis of the head, dermatitis seborrhoides capitis and pityriasis sicca.

Dosage and application

Adults and children aged 12 and over can use Squamasol solution two to three times a week.10 ml of solution is sufficient to treat the entire head.If you have severe dandruff and crusts, you can use it daily for a short period of time.For dry and sensitive scalps, use should be reduced to once a week.

Gently apply the solution to dry or damp scalp and massage gently.The exposure time should be at least 10 minutes, but can be extended to a maximum of 30 minutes.The solution is then rinsed out with warm water.For dry and sensitive scalps, the application time should be limited to 10 minutes.

It should be used over a period of at least 3 to 4 weeks.To maintain the success of the treatment, further treatment can be carried out over longer periods of time.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to salicylic acid or any of the other ingredients.Children under 12 years of age and patients with renal insufficiency should not use the solution.

Warnings

Squamasol solution contains butylated hydroxytoluene, propylene glycol and macrogol glycerol ricinoleate, which may cause skin irritation.Avoid contact with eyes and wash your hands thoroughly after use.

Storage

Keep Squamasol solution out of the reach and reach of children and do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the bottle label and carton.Once opened, the medicine can be used for 18 months, but not beyond the expiry date.Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater, but take them to your pharmacy for disposal.
