Instructions for use of Squamasol Gel

Squamasol Gel is a medicine with the active ingredient salicylic acid.It is used as a peeling agent (keratolytic) to treat scalp diseases.The gel helps dissolve scales and crusts caused by psoriasis of the head, dermatitis seborrhoides capitis or pityriasis sicca.

No prescription is required for this product.

Important notes

In addition to salicylic acid, Squamasol Gel also contains butylhydroxytoluene, propylene glycol and macrogol glycerol ricinoleate.These ingredients may cause skin irritation in some people.

Areas of application

Squamasol Gel is used to treat scalp conditions associated with dandruff and crusts.These include psoriasis of the head, dermatitis seborrhoides capitis and pityriasis sicca.

Contraindications

Squamasol Gel must not be used if you are allergic to salicylic acid or any of the other ingredients in the gel.Children up to the age of 12 and patients with kidney failure should also not use the gel.

Application

Adults and teenagers aged 12 and over can use Squamasol Gel two to three times a week.10 g of gel is sufficient to treat the entire head.For very severe dandruff and crusts, treatment can be carried out daily for a short period of time.The gel is carefully applied to dry or damp scalp and massaged in lightly.The exposure time is at least 10 minutes, but can be extended to a maximum of 30 minutes depending on the severity.The gel is then rinsed out with warm water.

It should be used over a period of at least 3 to 4 weeks.To maintain the success of the treatment, the application can be continued over longer periods of time.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Squamasol Gel can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Occasionally, irritation symptoms such as redness, tightness, burning and itching may occur.In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions or contact allergies may occur.

Storage

Keep Squamasol Gel out of the reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the tube and carton.Once opened, the medicine can be used for 24 months, but not beyond the expiry date.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Squamasol Gel is salicylic acid.The other ingredients are butylhydroxytoluene, macrogol-7-glycerol cocoate, macrogol glycerol ricinoleate, macrogol-5-oleyl ether, sodium dodecyl sulfate, yellow wax, virgin castor oil, glycerol monostearate 40-55, propylene glycol, palmitoyl ascorbic acid and citric acid.
