MOLEVAC Oral suspension, 25 ml

Description

Molevac is an oral suspension used to treat pinworm infestation (oxyuriasis) in children aged 1 year and older, adolescents and adults.The active ingredient pyrvinium has a specific effect against pinworms (oxyurene) by disrupting their metabolism and killing them.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The suspension contains 50 mg pyrvinium per 5 ml. The following excipients are also included: 75.25 mg pyrvinium embonate, 0.1 BE carbohydrates, methyl cellulose, sodium hydroxide, poloxamer 188, propylene glycol, saccharin sodium salt, 1.15 g sucrose, concentrated hydrochloric acid, sorbitan laurate, trisodium phosphate 12 water, purified water,Benzoic acid, 0.169 mmol total sodium ion, 3.89 mg total sodium ion and cherry flavor.Molevac contains sucrose (sugar) and sodium compounds.

Area of application

Molevac is used to treat pinworm infestations in children aged 1 year and older, adolescents and adults.The active ingredient pyrvinium is particularly effective against pinworms and disrupts their metabolism, which leads to the death of the worms.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to the active ingredient pyrvinium or any of the other ingredients.Molevac must also not be used if you have liver damage, inflammatory bowel disease or kidney dysfunction.

Dosage

Molevac is usually given as a single dose.The usual dose is 5 ml (equivalent to 50 mg of pyrvinium) per 10 kg of body weight.The maximum single dose is 40 ml (equivalent to 400 mg of pyrvinium), regardless of body weight.If the effectiveness is insufficient, the treatment should be repeated, but the dose should not be increased.

The dosage can be based on the following guidelines:

Children and young people:

Age approx. 1 - 3 years, body weight approx. 10 - 14 kg: 5 - 7.5 ml

Age approx. 4 - 5 years, body weight approx. 15 - 19 kg: 7.5 - 10 ml

Age approx. 6 - 9 years, body weight approx. 20 - 29 kg: 10 - 15 ml

Age approx. 10 - 12 years, body weight approx. 30 - 39 kg: 15 - 20 ml

Age approx. 13 - 14 years, body weight approx. 40 - 49 kg: 20 - 25 ml

Age approx. 15 - 16 years, body weight approx. 50 - 59 kg: 25 - 30 ml

Adults:

Body weight approx. 60 - 69 kg: 30 - 35 ml

Body weight approx. 70 - 79 kg: 35 - 40 ml

Body weight 80 kg or more: 40 ml

For pregnant women, the dosage should be based on the body weight before pregnancy.Patients with impaired kidney or liver function should not use Molevac.Elderly patients do not require any special dosage adjustment unless there is impairment of liver or kidney function.

The treatment can be repeated after 2 to 4 weeks.

If a larger amount is taken than intended, the undesirable effects may increase.If you have any signs of poisoning, you should consult a doctor immediately.If you forget to take it, you can take the missing amount on the same day.

Intake

Molevac can be taken with meals or on an empty stomach.For larger quantities, it is recommended to divide the intake into three portions before, during and after the meal.The suspension can be diluted with water or other liquids for children.The suspension should be shaken well before taking.

Patient information

Molevac turns the stool bright red, which does not have any pathological significance, but rather indicates that the active ingredient has passed through the gastrointestinal tract.The active ingredient can also cause discoloration of textiles that cannot be washed out.In the event of a worm infestation, close contacts should also be treated and attention should be paid to personal hygiene and thorough cleaning of living areas.The safety and effectiveness of the drug in children under 1 year of age have not been proven.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, Molevac should only be taken if absolutely necessary.Breastfeeding mothers should express and throw away the milk during use.Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception during treatment.

Other

If side effects occur in the gastrointestinal area, you can switch to dragees with the same active ingredients.No laxatives or special diet are necessary while taking it.The red color of the stool has no pathological significance.
