Instructions for use of Yomesan chewable tablets
Important notes
Yomesan 500mg chewable tablets contain the active ingredient niclosamide.This medicine is used for infections with various tapeworms, including the beef tapeworm (Taenia saginata), the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium), the fish tapeworm (Diphyllobothrium latum) and the dwarf tapeworm (Hymenolepis nana).
No prescription is required for this product.

If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.This also applies to side effects that are not listed in this leaflet.If you don't feel better or even feel worse, contact your doctor.
What is Yomesan and what is it used for?
Yomesan is a tapeworm treatment that works locally through direct contact with the tapeworm head.Niclosamide inhibits the parasite's internal respiration, causing the head and subsequent limbs to die.The tapeworm loses its hold and passes with the stools.
What should you consider before taking Yomesan?
Yomesan must not be taken if you are allergic to niclosamide or any of the other ingredients or if you are breast-feeding.Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines.Yomesan should not be taken with drinks containing alcohol.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.There is no sufficient experience with the use of Yomesan during pregnancy.Use during breastfeeding is not recommended.
Due to individual differences in reactions to this medicine, you may no longer be able to react quickly and specifically enough to unexpected and sudden events during treatment.Please note that your ability to actively participate in traffic, operate machines and work without a secure footing may be restricted.
This medicine contains less than 1mmol sodium (23 mg) per chewable tablet, i.e. it is almost "sodium free".
How to take Yomesan?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
The recommended dose is:
Infection with beef tapeworm, pork tapeworm, fish tapeworm:
Children aged 6 and over and adults: 4 chewable tablets on the first day.Children 2 to 6 years: 2 chewable tablets on the first day.Children under 2 years: 1 chewable tablet on the first day.
Infection with dwarf tapeworm:
Children aged 6 and over and adults: 4 chewable tablets on the first day, then 2 chewable tablets per day from the 2nd to the 7th day.Children aged 2 to 6 years: 2 chewable tablets on the first day, then 1 chewable tablet per day from the 2nd to the 7th day.
Take the respective daily dose after breakfast.To do this, chew the chewable tablets into a fine paste and then rinse the completely chewed tablets down with a little water.You can also take the chewable tablets dissolved in water.For smaller children, it is best to grind the chewable tablets into a fine paste and then give the child to swallow mixed with a little water.
In particular, acidic fruit juice such as orange juice can be very helpful in eliminating tapeworms.In principle, if you have constipation, you should ensure that your bowels are emptied properly before Yomesan treatment.A special diet is not required.
Unless otherwise prescribed, the treatment of cattle, pork and fish tapeworms lasts 1 day, and the treatment of dwarf tapeworms lasts 7 days.Do not take Yomesan for longer than the intended treatment time without medical advice.
What side effects are possible?
Like all medicines, Yomesan can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include allergic reactions, dizziness, blue lips, nausea, nausea, gastrointestinal pain, abdominal pain, gagging, diarrhea, rash, itching, increased sweating and malaise.
If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
How to store Yomesan?
Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and push-out strip.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.
Contents of the pack and further information
Yomesan contains the active ingredient niclosamide.Each chewable tablet contains 500 milligrams of niclosamide.The other ingredients are magnesium stearate, corn starch, sodium dodecyl sulfate, povidone K25, saccharin sodium 2H2O, talc and vanillin.
Yomesan is available in packs of 4 chewable tablets.
