Area of application

Salicylic Vaseline 10% is a callus agent that is used externally.It is suitable for the treatment of increased callus formation, known as hyperkeratosis, as well as for the treatment of corns and calluses.This ointment is suitable for children over one year old and adults.

The ointment contains the active ingredient salicylic acid.100 grams of the ointment contains 10 grams of salicylic acid.The ointment also contains thin paraffin and white petroleum jelly as other ingredients.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive or allergic to salicylic acid or any of the other ingredients.The ointment should also not be used in cases of contact hypersensitivity, during pregnancy, in infants and in cases of impaired kidney function.

Dosage

Always use salicylic petroleum jelly 10% exactly as directed.For children from one year of age, the maximum daily dose is 2 grams of ointment, although the maximum daily dose of the active ingredient should not exceed 0.2 grams.Adults may use a maximum of 20 grams of ointment per day, with a maximum active ingredient dose of 2.0 grams. Apply the ointment to the affected skin once or twice daily.

You should not use the ointment for more than three days without medical advice.If you have used more ointment than intended, please inform your doctor.

Intake

The ointment is intended for application to the skin.Protect the surrounding skin with a fatty ointment or paste.Avoid accidental contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

Patient information

In general, do not use the ointment on infants.There is no experience with regard to impairment of the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

Do not use salicylic petroleum jelly 10% during pregnancy.The ointment must not be used in the breast area during breastfeeding.Breastfeeding women may only use the ointment to treat corns for areas of up to 5 square centimeters.Before using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Other

Avoid contact of the ointment with mucous membranes and eyes.The removal of corns and calluses is promoted by a warm foot bath.If necessary, the application can be repeated for corns and calluses.The absorption of the active ingredient into the bloodstream can be increased in the case of inflammatory changes in the skin or skin erosion.
