What is Endo-Paractol and what is it used for?

Endo-Paractol is a defoamer that is used for diagnostic preparation in the abdominal area.It helps in eliminating foam accumulations that may occur during various endoscopic examinations such as esophagoscopy, gastroscopy, duodenoscopy, jejuno-ileoscopy, rectoscopy, sigmoidscopy and colonoscopy.It is also used for double contrast imaging of the stomach or large intestine.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient of Endo-Paractol is simeticone.100 ml of the emulsion contains 0.526 g of simeticone.The other ingredients are macrogol glycerol ricinoleate, propylene glycol, banana flavor, saccharin sodium 2 H2O, formaldehyde solution 35% and purified water.

Dosage and application

Always take Endo-Paractol exactly as described in the package leaflet or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose is 10 ml (equivalent to 52.6 mg simeticone) before or during endoscopy.If necessary, the dose can be increased.For exact dosage, use the measuring cup provided.

For double contrast visualization of the stomach, mix 10 ml of Endo-Paractol with 150-250 ml of contrast porridge.For double contrast visualization of the colon, use 20 ml Endo-Paractol with 1000-1500 ml contrast slurry.The medicine can be administered undiluted or diluted with water through the biopsy channel of the endoscope or taken by the patient.Endo-Paractol should be shaken vigorously before administration.

Lukewarm water is recommended for cleaning the biopsy channel of the endoscope.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think that the effect of Endo-Paractol is too strong or too weak.

Storage

Keep Endo-Paractol out of the reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the bottle label and carton.Store the bottle upright and not above 25°C.After opening the bottle, Endo-Paractol can be used for 6 months.

Never dispose of medicines via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy about proper disposal to protect the environment.

Contraindications

Endo-Paractol must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to Simeticon or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist for individual recommendations.

Side effects

There are currently no known side effects.However, if you notice any discomfort or changes during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Mode of action

The active ingredient Simeticon helps against flatulence by destroying the foam present in the gastrointestinal tract and thus promoting the escape of gases.

Important notes

Caution is advised if you are allergic to the sweetener saccharin or formaldehyde.Solubilizers such as poly(oxyethylene) castor oils can cause stomach upset and diarrhea.
