What are Contramutan drops and what are they used for?
Contramutan drops are a homeopathic medicine that is used for inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract.The areas of application are derived from the homeopathic medicines and include feverish, flu-like infections with inflammation of the upper respiratory tract.No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The active ingredients in Contramutan drops are Eupatorium perfoliatum (Wasserdost), Aconitum napellus, Atropa belladonna and Echinacea.The other ingredients are ethanol 94% (m/m) and purified water.
Areas of application
Contramutan drops are used for inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract.These include feverish, flu-like infections with inflammation of the upper respiratory tract.
Dosage and application
Contramutan drops should always be taken exactly as directed.In acute conditions the usual dose is:
Small children aged 1 to 6 years (approx. 8 to 20 kg) take 3 to 5 drops every half to an hour, a maximum of 12 times a day.The total daily dose is 36 to 60 drops.
Children aged 6 to 12 years (approx. 20 to 43 kg) take 4 to 7 drops every half to an hour, a maximum of 12 times a day.The total daily dose is 48 to 84 drops.
Adolescents aged 13 and over and adults take 5 to 10 drops every half to an hour, a maximum of 12 times a day.The total daily dose is 60 to 120 drops.
When the symptoms subside, the individual groups of people take the above-mentioned individual amounts 1 to 3 times a day.Adults and children take the drops undiluted, while small children should take them with sugar or diluted with liquid.The drops should be left in the mouth for some time before swallowing.Before use, the bottle should be shaken and held vertically.
The duration of use depends on the therapeutic need or the duration of the illness.Because of the Echinacea component, Contramutan drops should not be used for longer than 2 weeks without medical advice.
Storage
Contramutan drops should be kept out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the label and carton.After opening the bottle, the drops will last for 6 months at room temperature.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
Contraindications
Contramutan drops must not be used in cases of tuberculosis, blood cancer (leukemia), leukemia-like diseases (leukoses), inflammatory connective tissue diseases (collagenosis), diseases of the immune system (autoimmune diseases), multiple sclerosis, AIDS (immune deficiency caused by a HIV-infection), HIV-infection and chronic viral infections.If you have liver disease, epilepsy, brain disease (encephalopathy) or brain damage, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use.The medicine must not be used in babies under 1 year of age.
Side effects
Possible side effects include skin rash, itching, facial swelling, shortness of breath (dyspnea), dizziness and drop in blood pressure.If you experience any discomfort or changes during treatment, you should consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Important notes
Contramutan drops contain 33.4% alcohol by volume and therefore pose a risk for people with liver disease, alcoholics, epileptics, brain damage, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children. If symptoms persist for a long time, shortness of breath, persistent fever above 39°C or purulent or bloody sputum, a doctor should be consulted.
