Name of the veterinary medicinal product

Bolfo flea protection shampoo 1.1 mg/ml for dogs with the active ingredient (2-isopropoxyphenyl)(methyl carbamate).

Active ingredient and other ingredients

100 ml of shampoo contains the active ingredient (2-isopropoxyphenyl)(methyl carbamate) in an amount of 0.11 g.The shampoo also contains the following other ingredients: Marlopon AT 50, consisting of decylbenzenesulfonic acid, 2,2',2"-nitrilotriethanol salt, undecylbenzenesulfonic acid, 2,2',2"-nitrilotriethanol salt, dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, 2,2',2"-nitrilotriethanol salt,tridecylbenzenesulfonic acid, 2,2',2"-nitrilotriethanol salt (1:1) and water;Marlon A 350, consisting of decylbenzenesulfonic acid, sodium salt, undecylbenzenesulfonic acid, sodium salt, dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, sodium salt, tridecylbenzenesulfonic acid, sodium salt and water;N,N-Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)oleamide;anhydrous citric acid (Ph. Eur.);Macrogol.

Areas of application

The shampoo is used to combat fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.) in dogs.

Contraindications

The product must not be used on sick or convalescent animals, especially those with mechanical obstructions of the digestive and urinary organs, bronchial asthma or other lung and circulatory diseases.It is also not suitable for lactating animals, heavily pregnant animals, puppies under 3 months of age, animals with large skin lesions and animals used for food production.

Side effects

So far there are no known side effects.If you observe any side effects that are not listed in the package leaflet, please inform your veterinarian or pharmacist.

Application and dosage

The shampoo is applied directly to the fur.Before use, the dog should be washed thoroughly with lukewarm water so that the fur is well wet.The shampoo is then gently and carefully massaged into the fur, not forgetting the head, neck and ears.Contact with eyes should be avoided.The foam is left to act for about 5 minutes and then rinsed thoroughly with lukewarm water.The fur is then rubbed dry.In the event of accidental contact with eyes, immediately rinse them thoroughly with water.

Instructions for use

Bolfo flea protection shampoo kills existing fleas immediately, but has no particular long-term effect.In order to avoid a new infestation, it is recommended to also treat the animals' storage area, the immediate surroundings and the animals' preferred places of residence with a suitable insecticide or insect development inhibitor.If there is a flea infestation, all animals in the same household should be treated with an insecticide approved for this purpose.

Special precautions

The veterinary medicinal product is intended for external use as an insecticide.Contact with eyes should be avoided.In the event of accidental contact with eyes, immediately rinse them thoroughly with water.Direct contact with skin and eyes should be avoided during use.Wear protective gloves.In case of accidental contact with eyes and/or skin, immediately rinse thoroughly with water.Bolfo flea protection shampoo should not be used by pregnant women in the third trimester.

Storage

The product should not be stored above 30°C and should not be frozen.It must be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date stated on the container and outer packaging.

Disposal

Unused veterinary medicines should preferably be disposed of at pollutant collection points.If disposed of together with household waste, it must be ensured that this waste cannot be accessed improperly.Veterinary medicines must not be disposed of with waste water or via the sewerage system.The active ingredient propoxur is toxic to organisms living in water.Contamination of surface water with Bolfo flea protection shampoo must be avoided at all costs.

Effect

The shampoo works against fleas. It is used to immediately combat fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.) and ensures shiny and parasite-free fur.It also helps to loosen the fur.

Application

The Bolfo® shampoo is carefully shampooed into the wet fur.The head, neck and ears should not be forgotten.The shampoo is left to work for about 5 minutes and then rinsed thoroughly with lukewarm water.Please note that if an animal has a flea infestation, the surrounding area must be treated as well, as around 95% of the fleas reside there and only around 5% on the animal.

Additional recommendations

For a long-lasting effect, it is recommended to apply a Bolfo® flea protection tape.The surrounding area should also be treated with Bolfo® Fogger or Bolfo® environmental spray.
