Ketozolin® 2% Shampoo is used for the treatment and prevention of seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp, pityriasis versicolor and pityriasis capitis in adults.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

The active ingredient ketoconazole in Ketozolin® 2% Shampoo relieves symptoms such as itching and redness and prevents the formation of new dandruff.The shampoo combats the growth of dermatophytes, yeast fungi and Pityrosporum species.

Ingredients of Ketozolin® 2% Shampoo: ketoconazole, sodium dodecyl sulfate, 3-dodecyloxycarbonyl-2/3-sulfopropanoic acid, disodium salt, poly(oxyethylene)-120-methyl(D-glucopyranoside) dioleate, macrogol glycerol cocoate (Ph.Eur.), [7 EO-Einheiten] 1,1-methylene bis[3-(3-hydroxymethyl-2,5-dioxoimidazolidin-4-yl)harnstoff],Tridodecyl ammonium polypeptides (MMG 2000), N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl) coconut fatty acid amide, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, Ponceau 4R (E 124), hydrochloric acid 36%, purified water.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, Ketozolin® 2% Shampoo should not be used.

Dosage

For scaly brownish spots on the skin (pityriasis versicolor), the shampoo is used to treat it once a day for five days.To prevent summer time, it is used once a day for a maximum of three days.For cradle cap and dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis), the shampoo is used to treat it twice a week for two to four weeks.For prevention, it is used once a week or every two weeks for three to six months.

Application

Ketozolin® 2% Shampoo may only be used externally.The affected areas are washed with the shampoo and rinsed thoroughly after three to five minutes.The application should be carried out exactly after consultation with the doctor.

Patient information

In rare cases, an increase in normal hair loss may occur during use.Contact with eyes should be avoided.If the shampoo gets into your eyes, rinse them thoroughly with cold water.If medicines containing cortisone are used at the same time, the application should be reduced gradually to avoid skin reactions.

The shampoo has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.The active ingredient is hardly absorbed by the body, so the shampoo can be used during pregnancy after consulting your doctor.During breastfeeding, the shampoo should not be used on the breast area to avoid contact of the infant with the treated areas of the body.

Ketozolin® 2% Shampoo is well tolerated and contains no fragrances or preservatives.Application over two to four weeks is recommended.

Notes

Ketozolin® 2% Shampoo must not be used if you are allergic to ketoconazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.Use in children is not recommended as there are no data on effectiveness and safety for this age group.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
