Glucose 40% B. Braun is a concentrate for preparing an infusion solution.The active ingredient is glucose monohydrate, with 100 ml of the solution containing 44.0 g glucose monohydrate (corresponding to 40.0 g anhydrous glucose).The other ingredient is water for injections.

Areas of application

Glucose 40% B. Braun is used if you need glucose to raise blood sugar levels that are too low.After dilution, the solution is administered as an infusion, i.e. through a thin tube into a vein (intravenously).

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include increase in electrolyte concentration in the blood, loss of fluid, local pain or reaction at the injection site, irritation or inflammation of the vein, blood clot formation at the injection site and leakage of solution into the tissue surrounding the vein.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and carton after “EXP”.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.For microbiological reasons, mixtures with additives or other injection or infusion solutions should be used immediately.If not used immediately, storage times and conditions are the responsibility of the user.Normally mixtures should not be stored for longer than 24 hours at 2°C - 8°C unless they have been prepared under controlled conditions ensuring sterility.
