Directions for use of Omacor 1,000 mg Softgels: Omacor contains highly purified omega-3 fatty acids and is used to treat certain forms of elevated blood lipid levels when dietary measures alone are not sufficient. It is one of the cholesterol and triglyceride-lowering agents. Before taking Omacor, the following points should be noted: do not take it if you are allergic to the active ingredient or other components of the drug, if you have kidney or liver problems, after injury or surgery, if you have diabetes or are allergic to fish. The intake of anticoagulant medication should also be taken into account. The capsules should be taken with meals to reduce possible gastrointestinal discomfort. Persons over 70 years of age should exercise caution. The drug should not be taken by children or during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless deemed necessary by the doctor. The dosage for the treatment of elevated blood lipid levels is usually 2 capsules per day, but may be increased to 4 capsules by the doctor. In case of an overdose, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist. If a dose is forgotten, it should be taken again, unless it is already time for the next dose. Possible side effects of Omacor may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, high blood sugar levels, gout, dizziness, headache, low blood pressure, nosebleeds, blood in stools, skin rash and itching.
