Information for use with the article Ringer's solution Bernburg PE-bottles: Ringer's solution Bernburg total cations/anions 156 mval/l is an infusion solution used for fluid and electrolyte substitution in hypochloraemic alkalosis or chloride loss, short-term intravascular volume replacement, isotonic dehydration, hypotonic dehydration and as a carrier solution for compatible electrolyte concentrates and medications. However, there are contraindications to consider, such as hyperhydration states. Particular caution should be exercised in the presence of elevated blood potassium, sodium and chloride levels and in conditions requiring restrictive sodium intake. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can use the product without hesitation. There are no known interactions with other medicines, but incompatibilities may occur with solutions containing inorganic phosphate or carbonate. Electrolyte and fluid status should be checked during use. Too rapid infusion in the treatment of hypertonic dehydration should be avoided. The dosage is based on the patient's need for fluid and electrolytes. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 40 ml/kg body mass and day in adults. Ringer's solution Bernburg is intended for intravenous infusion. In PE-case of overdose, overhydration, disturbances in the electrolyte balance, hyperosmolarity and acidotic metabolic disturbance may occur. Side effects are not expected when used as directed.
