Guardacid Tablets Vet are a dietary supplement for dogs and cats in easy-to-dose tablet form. They contain DL-methionine, an essential amino acid known as an acidity regulator and uric acidifying substance. These feeds are used for feeding-related deficiency symptoms and unpleasant odour from the animals' muzzle, urinary urgency, uncontrolled urination and sediment formation, e.g. struvite stones, struvite crystals and non-specific bladder problems. DL-However, methionine is not effective against oxalate stone formation. The tablets are low in calcium, sodium and magnesium and contain 200 mg DL-methionine and green-lipped mussel as an additive. A pH test strip can be used to measure the urine pH. The Guardacid tablets set a pH between 6 and 7 and reduce the triple phosphate levels. It is recommended to use them for a period of up to six months. The feeding recommendation is 2-5 tablets per day for dogs and 2-4 tablets per day for cats. A veterinarian should be consulted before use, especially in cases of acute renal insufficiency. The tablets should be stored tightly closed and out of reach of animals. The composition includes milk and dairy products, sugar, molluscs and crustaceans, oils and fats.
