Product features

Mepitel Film is a thin, transparent, adhesive and breathable silicone film dressing.It is soft and is supported by a paper frame that makes it easy to put on.The bandage is sterile and gentle on the skin.

Scope of application

Mepitel Film can also be used by laypeople under the supervision of a medical professional.No prescription is required for this product.

To apply the dressing, first clean the skin according to clinical practice and dry it thoroughly.Then remove the protective film and place the adhesive side on the sensitive skin or primary dressing.Smooth the dressing to ensure a good seal.Be careful not to stretch the bandage.Then remove the paper frame.

For optimal results, Mepitel Film should overlap the dry skin surrounding the wound by at least 1 to 2 cm for the smaller sizes and by 5 cm for the larger sizes to securely hold the dressing in place.If the edges of the product begin to curl, carefully trim them to extend wear time.

Precautions

Do not use Mepitel Film in patients or users with a known hypersensitivity to the materials or components of the product.The bandage is not reusable.If reused, product performance may deteriorate and contamination transfer may occur.

Mepitel Film is not a wound contact layer product and does not allow wound exudate to pass through the dressing to a secondary layer.When more than one product is used and they overlap, vapor permeability decreases, which can result in excess moisture not being able to drain away from the skin.

Do not use the dressing for primary fixation of IV-cannulas, ports or other products.Mepitel Film is sterile.Do not use the product if the inner packaging (sterile barrier) is damaged or opened before use.Do not re-sterilize the dressing.

If you observe signs of infection, such as fever, or if the wound or surrounding skin becomes red, warm, or swollen, contact a healthcare professional for appropriate treatment.
