Legalon Protect Madaus are hard capsules containing the active substance milk thistle fruit dry extract. They are used for the supportive treatment of chronic inflammatory liver diseases, liver cirrhosis and toxic liver damage. The medicinal product is not intended for the treatment of acute poisoning. It is recommended to read the package leaflet carefully and to consult the doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. The recommended dosage for adolescents 12 years and older and adults is 2 capsules 3 times daily before meals. An overdose may cause gastrointestinal complaints. Possible side effects are rarely gastrointestinal complaints and very rarely hypersensitivity reactions of the skin. The medicinal product must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to milk thistle fruit and/or other composites or in jaundice. It should also not be used in children under 12 years of age, during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Before using the medicine, a doctor or pharmacist should always be informed of any other medicines being taken. Legalon Protect Madaus is available in packs of 30 and 100 brown hard capsules. The active ingredient is milk thistle dry extract and contains silymarin. The capsules should be taken unchewed with some liquid before meals.
