Directions for use of the article Hydrocortisone-ratiopharm 0.5% Spray Hydrocortisone-ratiopharm® 0.5% Spray is a glucocorticoid for use on the skin. It is used to relieve mild inflammatory, allergic or itchy skin conditions that respond to symptomatic treatment with low potency glucocorticosteroids. The spray is particularly suitable for normal or oily skin. Certain conditions should be observed before using Hydrocortisone-ratiopharm® 0.5%. It must not be used in case of allergic reaction to hydrocortisone or other components of the medicinal product, in certain skin diseases, viral infections, fungal infections, bacterial skin infections, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, rosacea and in children under 6 years of age. Extensive and prolonged use should be avoided. Side effects may occur during the use of Hydrocortisone-ratiopharm® 0.5%, such as allergic skin reactions and drying of the skin. In case of accidental ingestion or application to open wounds, interactions with certain medicines may occur. The recommended dosage for adults and children from 6 years of age is 2-3 times a day at the beginning of the treatment. If the condition improves, a single application per day or every 2-3 days is usually sufficient. The application is on the skin. The duration of treatment should usually not exceed 2 weeks. Hydrocortisone-ratiopharm® 0.5% may in rare cases lead to side effects such as thinner skin, visible dilatation of the capillaries, stretch marks, steroid acne, skin inflammation near the mouth and increased body hair. The medicine should be used with caution in children, pregnant and breastfeeding women. It contains propylene glycol and alcohol which may cause skin irritation. Hydrocortisone-ratiopharm® 0.5% is available in 30 ml spray bottles. It should be stored out of reach of children and not above 25 °C.
