It is rapidly and completely broken down to glucose and absorbed as such. It is used for energy fortification of food and beverages with carbohydrates with the aim of weight gain. Lamperts Maltodextrin 6 contains per heaped tablespoon (15 g) 242 kJ/57 kcal energy, 14.4 g carbohydrates (of which 0.18 g sugar), 0 g fat, 0 g protein, 0 g dietary fibre and 0 g salt.
