Biomagnesin Madaus lozenges are a magnesium preparation for the treatment of magnesium deficiency. It is used when the deficiency is the cause of muscle activity disorders such as neuromuscular disorders and calf cramps. The tablets contain the active ingredients magnesium hydrogen phosphate 3H2O and magnesium hydrogen citrate 3H2O. The recommended dosage for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over is initially 4 lozenges 3 times a day before meals, after which a maintenance dose of 2-3 lozenges 3 times a day may be used. It is recommended to let the tablets melt slowly in the mouth. At high dosage, soft stools may occur; if diarrhoea occurs, treatment should be temporarily interrupted. The medicinal product should not be used in cases of severe excretory disorders of the kidneys, cardiac conduction disorders or known hypersensitivity to the active substances or other ingredients. There is no evidence of harmful effects of the medicinal product during pregnancy and lactation. It should be noted that the medicinal product does not contain saccharin and that there are no special warnings concerning fitness to drive and to operate machinery. Before use, possible interactions with other medicines should be noted. Storage is at room temperature and the medicinal product should be kept out of the reach of children.
