Area of application

Balneum Hermal is a medical oil bath series based on natural oils for treating dry, slightly itchy and particularly stressed skin.The medicinal baths are distributed in the bath water in the finest droplets and form a nourishing lipid film on the skin.This means that the skin is greased evenly and thinly, so that areas can be easily reached that are not so easy to reach when applying cream by hand.At the same time, the release of important moisture retention factors from the top layer of skin is reduced during bathing.This stabilizes the skin's hydrolipid system and supports the restoration of the skin's natural barrier function.

Balneum Hermal is finely distributed in the bath water and moisturizes the skin even while bathing.The release of physiological moisturizing factors from the horny layer is reduced and the increased water evaporation in eczema, the so-called transepidermal water loss (TEWL), is reduced.

The medicinal oil baths for the special treatment of dry, stressed and slightly itchy skin such as atopic eczema (neurodermatitis), psoriasis (psoriasis), fish scale disease (ichthyosis), age-related itching (pruritus senilis), eczema such as wind eczema, washing eczema.

Contraindications

If there is a known hypersensitivity to any of the specified ingredients or active ingredients, use of this product is not recommended.

Dosage

When bathing, add Balneum Hermal to the bath water and mix well until even distribution is achieved.You can use the inner part of the screw cap as a measuring cup.For a full bath (approx. 150l) use 2-3 measuring cups (30-45ml).For a children's bath (approx. 25 l) use 5 ml, for a partial bath (5 l) use 1 ml (approx. 1/4 teaspoon) of Balneum Hermal.

The bath water temperature should not exceed 36 °C, as the moisturizing effect decreases at higher temperatures.To treat itching, the temperature should be 32°C or as low as tolerated.The bathing time should not exceed 20 minutes.For infants and small children, an application time of just a few minutes is usually sufficient.

After bathing, just pat the skin lightly with a towel.Strong drying and rubbing reduces the therapeutic effect.The duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease.The information under “Precautions for use and warnings” must be observed.

The frequency of use of Balneum Hermal depends on the type and extent of the symptoms.In general, the baths should be taken every 2 - 3 days.

Intake

As with all bathing applications, children under 2 years of age should only use the medication under constant, appropriate supervision.The special properties of oil baths generally result in an increased risk of slipping.Particular care must therefore be taken to ensure that children under 2 years of age do not accidentally slide their heads below the surface of the water.

Patient information

Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.Parents should prevent children from drinking the bath water.If you accidentally ingest undiluted bath oil, you should contact your doctor, even if you have not experienced any symptoms.

There is an increased risk of slipping due to the oil film on the skin, in the bathtub and shower.You should therefore always ensure that you have a firm grip or stand. Residues in the bathtub and shower basin must be removed immediately after the bath with hot water and a conventional household detergent so that residues of bath oil cannot build up.

Although fragrance allergies are known to be increasing, we can report from our experience to date that a fragrance allergy has only been verified in individual cases, especially in connection with the use of Balneum Hermal.If you have a fragrance allergy, you should not use the oil baths.

It is possible to combine the products with other skin treatment options (e.g. corticosteroids).The basis here should be the doctor's diagnosis or treatment recommendation.

After each bath, the bathtub should be cleaned immediately with a conventional household cleaner and then rinsed with hot water.

There is an increased risk of slipping due to the oil film on the skin and the oil film in the bathtub.

In principle, you can also use our oil baths in the shower if you have dry and/or itchy skin.The oil baths are distributed undiluted on the moistened body and then rinsed off again.It is advisable to only lightly dab the skin with a bath towel after showering.
