Advantage Spot-On is a spot-on skin solution specifically designed for dogs, cats and ornamental rabbits.The active ingredient in this product is imidacloprid.It is used to prevent and treat flea infestations in dogs and cats as well as to treat lice infestations in dogs and flea infestations in ornamental rabbits.Advantage can also be used as part of a treatment plan to control flea allergy dermatitis if previously diagnosed by a veterinarian.

For dogs, Advantage kills fleas on the animal within 24 hours.A single treatment works against fleas for up to 4 weeks.In cats and ornamental rabbits, the fleas are killed within a day of treatment.The effect lasts 3 to 4 weeks for cats and up to a week for ornamental rabbits.

Area of application

If your dog has fleas, treatment with Advantage Spot-On is the first step.The parasites on the animal are killed within a short time after application, so that there are no further bites and the fleas cannot multiply any further.As a rule, the visible flea infestation is just the tip of the iceberg.It is important to control the flea offspring, namely the eggs, larvae and pupae of fleas in the home environment or to stop their reproduction and development.

Advantage quickly kills the fleas on the dog and prevents the fleas from sucking blood and laying eggs.It also kills flea larvae in the immediate vicinity of the treated animal if they come into contact with the active ingredient.It also prevents new flea infestations for up to 4 weeks.Further measures should include thorough cleaning of all carpets and upholstery as well as washing textiles such as cushions and blankets at at least 60 °C.In the case of stubborn flea infestations, it may be necessary to supplement the treatment with an environmental spray in order to kill flea larvae and eggs that have not been reached.

Contraindications

Advantage Spot-On should not be used if your pet is under 8 weeks old or if it is intended for human consumption.The product should also not be used on ornamental rabbits that are younger than 10 weeks old.In addition, it must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients.Contact with the animal's eyes and mucous membranes should be avoided.

Dosage

Advantage Spot-On for dogs up to 4 kg contains a solution to be applied to the dog's skin and is therefore intended for external use.Before use, determine the weight of the animal as accurately as possible.The following applies: at least 10 mg imidacloprid per kg body weight.Dogs up to 4 kg body weight receive 1x 0.4 ml (equivalent to one Advantage 40 pipette).Apply the entire contents of a pipette to healthy areas of skin between the shoulder blades or along the back line.Only choose the amount of solution applied per application area so large that it does not run down the side of the animal.Wash your hands thoroughly after using the pipettes.

Patient information

Make sure that newly treated animals do not lick each other at the application site.After application, do not pet or brush animals until the treated area has dried. Wash your hands carefully after handling the product.

Notes

Store Advantage Spot-On separately from food, drink and feed.The blister pack should be stored in the folding box.Keep the product out of the reach of children.Imidacloprid must not enter water bodies as it can have harmful effects on aquatic organisms.Ponds, watercourses or streams must not be contaminated with the product or empty packaging.

How you should use Advantage Dog

Advantage Spot-On is for external use only.Remove a pipette from the package, pull off the child-resistant cap, press it upside down and pull it off again while holding the pipette vertically upwards.Use two fingers to spread the fur between the dog's shoulder blades, preferably in a standing position, until the skin is visible.Apply Advantage directly to the skin by squeezing the pipette several times while holding the pipette vertically downwards.

In order to avoid that the active ingredient solution runs down the side of the animal, the amount of solution administered per application site should not be too large.Advantage should only be applied to healthy areas of skin.Make sure that newly treated animals do not lick each other at the application site.

The hatching of fleas in the environment with subsequent re-infestation of the dog can continue for at least 6 weeks after the start of treatment.In order to catch these fleas, repeat treatments with Advantage may be necessary, depending on the number of fleas in the animal's environment.To support the therapy, it is recommended that the animals' bed and the immediate surrounding area be treated with a preparation against adult fleas and their development stages.

The dog getting wet, e.g.B. after swimming or heavy rain, does not affect the effectiveness of Advantage.However, if you swim frequently or after shampooing, the treatment may need to be repeated, depending on the number of fleas in the animal's environment.However, do not do this more frequently than weekly.

For Haarling infestations, a further veterinary examination 30 days after treatment is recommended, as individual animals require a second treatment.

What ingredients does Advantage Dog have?

One pipette (0.4 ml) contains 40 mg imidacloprid.Other ingredients are 0.1% (1 mg/ml) butylhydroxytoluene (E321), benzyl alcohol and 4-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one.

Notes

Do not use Advantage Spot-On if your dog is younger than 8 weeks or if your pet is known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
