Advantage Spot-On is a solution that is applied to the skin of dogs, cats and ornamental rabbits.The active ingredient in this product is imidacloprid.It is used to prevent and treat fleas in dogs and cats, as well as to treat lice in dogs.It is used to treat flea infestations in ornamental rabbits.Advantage can also be part of a treatment plan to control flea allergy dermatitis if diagnosed by a veterinarian.

For dogs, Advantage kills fleas within 24 hours of application.A single treatment protects the dog from fleas for up to 4 weeks.In cats and ornamental rabbits, fleas are killed within a day of treatment.A single treatment protects cats from fleas for 3 to 4 weeks and ornamental rabbits for up to a week.

Area of application

If your dog has fleas, treatment with Advantage Spot-On is the first step.The parasites on the animal are killed within a short time after application, so that there are no further bites and the fleas cannot multiply any further.As a rule, the visible flea infestation on the dog is just the tip of the iceberg.It is therefore important to combat the flea offspring, namely the eggs, larvae and pupae of fleas in the home environment or to stop their reproduction and development.

Advantage quickly kills fleas on the dog and prevents the fleas from sucking blood and laying eggs.It offers the advantage that it kills flea larvae in the immediate vicinity of the treated animal when they come into contact with the active ingredient.It also prevents new flea infestations for up to 4 weeks.Further measures should include thoroughly cleaning all carpets and upholstery or your four-legged friend's favorite place, as well as washing textiles such as cushions and blankets at at least 60 °C.In the case of stubborn flea infestations, it may be necessary to supplement the treatment with an environmental spray in order to kill flea larvae and eggs that have not been reached.

Ingredients of Advantage Spot-On for dogs from 4 to 10 kg body weight: One pipette with 1.0 ml solution contains 100 mg imidacloprid.Other ingredients are butylhydroxytoluene (E 321) 4.0 mg, benzyl alcohol (E 1519) and propylene carbonate.

Contraindications

Advantage Spot-On should not be used if your pet is known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.It must also not be used on suckling puppies less than 8 weeks old and on food-producing animals.Contact with the animal's eyes and mucous membranes should be avoided.

Dosage

Advantage Spot-On for dogs weighing 4 to 10 kg contains a solution to be applied to the dog's skin and is therefore intended for external use.Before use, determine the weight of the animal as accurately as possible.The following applies: at least 10 mg imidacloprid per kg body weight.Dogs from/over 4 kg to 10 kg body weight receive 1x 1.0 ml (equivalent to one Advantage 100 pipette).Apply the entire contents of one pipette at a time.The solution is applied between the shoulder blades or along the back line.Only use Advantage Spot-On on healthy areas of skin.Please wash your hands thoroughly after using the pipettes.

Only choose the amount of solution applied per application area so large that it does not run down the side of the animal.

Patient information

Please ensure that freshly treated animals do not lick each other at the application site. Do not pet or brush animals after application until the treated area has dried.Wash hands carefully after use.

Notes

Store Advantage Spot-On separately from food, drink and feed.Store the blister pack in the folding box.Keep out of the reach of children.Imidacloprid must not enter water bodies as it can have harmful effects on aquatic organisms.Ponds, watercourses or streams must not be contaminated with the product or empty packaging.

How you should use Advantage Dog

For external use only.Please refer to the package insert for the dosage schedule based on body weight.

Remove a pipette from the package, pull off the child-resistant cap, press it upside down and pull it off again while holding the pipette vertically upwards.Use two fingers to spread the fur between the dog's shoulder blades, preferably in a standing position, until the skin is visible.Apply Advantage directly to the skin by squeezing the pipette several times while holding the pipette vertically downwards.

In order to avoid that the active ingredient solution runs down the side of the animal, the amount of solution administered per application site should not be too large.Advantage should only be applied to healthy areas of skin.You should ensure that newly treated animals do not lick each other at the application site.

The hatching of fleas in the environment with subsequent re-infestation of the dog can continue for at least 6 weeks after the start of treatment.In order to catch these fleas, repeat treatments with Advantage may be necessary, depending on the number of fleas in the animal's environment.To support the therapy, it is recommended that the animals' bed and the immediate surrounding area be treated with a preparation against adult fleas and their development stages.

The dog getting wet, e.g.B. after swimming or heavy rain, does not affect the effectiveness of Advantage.However, if you swim frequently or after shampooing, the treatment may need to be repeated, depending on the number of fleas in the animal's environment.However, do not do this more frequently than weekly.

For Haarling infestations, a further veterinary examination 30 days after treatment is recommended, as individual animals require a second treatment.

Please do not use if your dog is younger than 8 weeks.Do not use if you are known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
