Nystatin acis® ointment is an agent against fungal infections of the skin, especially against yeast fungi such as Candida spp.It is used to relieve symptoms of perianal and genital mycoses.These infections can manifest as intense itching, burning and a curd-like discharge.Risk factors for such infections include tight or synthetic clothing, the use of intimate sprays or vaginal douches, pregnancy, antibiotic treatments, the use of immunosuppressants or high-dose contraceptives, diabetes mellitus and HIV.

Mode of action

Nystatin acis® ointment has a fungicidal or fungistatic effect against Candida albicans infections and related yeast species.The ointment does not contain water and is therefore lipophilic, which means that it is easy to spread and adheres well.Due to the lack of preservatives, it has a long shelf life.

Ingredients of Nystatin acis® ointment: 1 g of ointment contains 100,000 IU (international units) of nystatin.The other ingredients are polyethylene and thick paraffin containing all-rac-α-tocopherol.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredient or one of the excipients, Nystatin acis® ointment should not be used.

Dosage

Nystatin acis® ointment should be applied thinly to the affected skin areas one to several times a day.It is only suitable for external use to treat vaginal mycosis.The application should be continued until complete healing.Treatment that extends beyond 7 days should be discussed with a doctor.

Nystatin acis® ointment is intended for use on the skin.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the ointment.If nystatin and latex products are used at the same time, functional impairment may occur.Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin, its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended.There are no known restrictions on use on the skin for older people.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.

Notes

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.Do not store above 25°C.After opening the tube for the first time, Nystatin acis® ointment has a shelf life of 6 months.
