Vaprino® hard capsules

Vaprino® hard capsules contain the active ingredient racecadotril and are intended for the treatment of acute diarrhea in adults aged 18 and over.The product is available without a prescription and can be taken in addition to the causal therapy.It contains lactose.

Area of application

Diarrhea can have various causes, such as stomach flu, unfamiliar foods on vacation, stress or food intolerances.Vaprino® helps relieve symptoms by regulating the flow of water and electrolytes into the intestines without inhibiting natural intestinal movement.This enables pathogens to be excreted in the event of infections.The hard capsules usually work within 30 minutes by firming the stool, reducing the urge to go to the toilet and relieving accompanying symptoms such as abdominal pain and flatulence.

Mode of action

Vaprino® quickly relieves the symptoms of acute diarrhea without subsequently causing constipation.The active ingredient racecadotril prevents too much fluid from entering the intestines and restores natural intestinal function.Since intestinal movement is not blocked, pathogens can be excreted normally.The effects usually begin within 30 minutes to an hour.

One hard capsule of Vaprino® contains 100 mg racecadotril.Other ingredients include lactose monohydrate, pregelatinized corn starch, vegetable magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, gelatin, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O and titanium dioxide (E171).

Contraindications

Vaprino® must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to the ingredients, if you have bloody or purulent diarrhea in conjunction with fever, if you have chronic diarrhea or during pregnancy.The application is only permitted from the age of 18 and should not last longer than three days.If there is no improvement, a doctor should be consulted.

Dosage

On the first day of treatment, two capsules should be taken initially, followed by one capsule each with the main meals, a maximum of four capsules in total.From the second day of treatment, one capsule is taken three times a day before main meals.Treatment should continue as long as the stool is unformed, but not longer than three days.

Intake

The capsules should preferably be taken whole with a glass of water before main meals.On the first day of treatment, two capsules are taken at once, followed by one capsule each with the main meals.From the second day of treatment, one capsule is taken three times a day before main meals.Treatment should continue as long as the stool is unformed.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Tell your doctor if you have an acute attack of ulcerative colitis, kidney disease, liver dysfunction, or lactose intolerance.In the event of hypersensitivity reactions or angioedema, treatment should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted.

Pregnancy

Due to a lack of data, it is not recommended to take this medicine if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, are planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.Before taking/using this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Vaprino® hard capsules are available without a prescription.No prescription is required for this product.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
