Area of application

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 40 mg of procaine hydrochloride, which corresponds to 34.65 mg of procaine.The following excipients are also included: citric acid 1-water, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, water for injections and a total of 23 mg sodium ions.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to procaine, other ester-type local anesthetics or any of the other ingredients.Its use is also prohibited if there is a deficiency of pseudocholinesterase, which slows down the breakdown of procaine.In addition, the agent must not be injected into arteries, into the area around the outer lining of the central nervous system or into the spinal canal.

Dosage

The medicine should always be used as directed by a doctor.As a general rule, only the smallest effective dose should be administered.For adults and adolescents aged 15 and over, the recommended dose per skin wheal is up to 10 mg, corresponding to 0.5 ml of solution for injection.The maximum dose for a single application in rapidly absorbing tissues is 500 mg procaine, which corresponds to 25 ml of solution for injection.In the head, neck and genital area, the maximum dose is 200 mg procaine within two hours.If you have certain pre-existing illnesses or impaired liver or kidney function, the dose should be reduced.

In principle, it can be used for as long as it is medically necessary.In the event of an overdose, the treating doctor must be informed immediately and emergency measures initiated.Don't forget to take a double dose if you forget to use it.The treatment can be stopped at any time.

Intake

The medicine is injected intracutaneously, i.e. into the skin.The application should only be carried out by people with appropriate knowledge.For continuous use, low-concentration solutions of procaine should be used.Repeated use may lead to rapid development of tolerance.The injection solution is only intended for one-time use and must be used immediately after opening the container.

Patient information

Particular caution is required in the case of certain pre-existing conditions such as muscle weakness, cardiac conduction disorders or heart muscle weakness.The doctor should monitor the circulation and prepare for ventilation and resuscitation measures before use.If you have an allergic reaction to chemically related drugs, there is an increased risk of an allergic reaction to procaine.When used in the neck and head area, the risk of symptoms of poisoning is increased.To avoid side effects, the dosage should be as low as possible and the injection should be carried out slowly.

If anticoagulants or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used at the same time, an increased tendency to bleeding should be taken into account.There is no sufficient experience of use for children under 15 years of age.In older people, the dose should be adjusted according to the general condition.The ability to drive and use machines may be impaired.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, the medicine should only be used if absolutely necessary.During breastfeeding, procaine hydrochloride passes into breast milk.If used for a short time, it is not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding.However, if repeated or higher doses are used, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
