Active ingredients and other ingredients

1 ml of the solution contains 100 mg of fipronil.One pipette of Fipralone contains different amounts of Fipronil depending on the size of the dog:

For small dogs (S): 0.67 ml with 67 mg fipronil.

For medium dogs (M): 1.34 ml with 134 mg fipronil.

For large dogs (L): 2.68 ml with 268 mg fipronil.

For very large dogs (XL): 4.02 ml with 402 mg fipronil.

Other ingredients important for administration include butylated hydroxyanisole E320 and butylated hydroxytoluene E321.The amounts of these ingredients also vary depending on the size of the dog.

Areas of application

Fipralone is used to treat flea and tick infestations in dogs.The insecticidal effect against fleas lasts up to 8 weeks, while the acaricidal effect against ticks lasts up to 4 weeks.The product can also be used to control flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) if previously diagnosed by a veterinarian.

Contraindications

Due to lack of data, Fipralone should not be used in puppies under 2 months old or weighing less than 2 kg.The product must also not be used on sick or recovering animals, rabbits and cats.In addition, it should not be used if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or other ingredients.

Side effects

If the animal licks the solution, increased salivation may occur.Rarely, temporary skin reactions may occur at the application site, such as skin discoloration, local hair loss, itching or redness of the skin.In exceptional cases, increased salivation, neurological symptoms, vomiting or breathing problems have also been observed.If side effects occur, a veterinarian or pharmacist should be consulted.

Dosage and application

Fipralone is used externally.The dosage depends on the dog's body weight:

For dogs between 2 and 10 kg: 1 pipette with 0.67 ml.

For dogs between 10 and 20 kg: 1 pipette with 1.34 ml.

For dogs between 20 and 40 kg: 1 pipette with 2.68 ml.

For dogs between 40 and 60 kg: 1 pipette with 4.02 ml.

For dogs over 60 kg: two 2.68 ml pipettes.

The pipette should be held vertically and the contents applied to the skin along the back.Care should be taken to ensure that the animal does not lick off the solution.

Instructions for use

To optimally combat fleas and ticks, the treatment plan should be adapted to the local epidemiological conditions.Bathing and intensive wetting should be avoided for two days after treatment.The product does not prevent tick infestation, but kills them within 24-48 hours.

Storage and disposal

Fipralone should be stored out of the reach of children, in a dry place and at temperatures below 30°C.The product must not enter water bodies as it poses a danger to fish and other aquatic organisms.Unused medicines should be handed in at pollutant collection points.

Special precautions

Animals should be weighed accurately before treatment.Contact with the animal's eyes should be avoided.The product must not be applied to wounds or skin lesions.People with hypersensitivity to fipronil should avoid contact with the drug.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Laboratory studies revealed no evidence of teratogenic or embryotoxic effects.However, use during pregnancy and lactation should only be carried out after a benefit-risk assessment by a veterinarian.
