How does pain sensitivity occur?

Pain-sensitive teeth are often caused by gum recession, which exposes the underlying canals at the neck of the tooth.This means that stimuli such as hot, cold, sweet, sour or touch can reach the tooth nerve directly and cause pain.Another reason for sensitive teeth is loss of tooth enamel.Tooth enamel protects the softer dentin, pulp and nerves of the teeth.When a stimulus, such as a cold drink, hits the sensitive tooth, it travels through the dentinal tubules to the nerve, which sends a pain signal to the brain.

Dosage

For immediate pain relief, apply the toothpaste to the sensitive tooth with your fingertip up to twice a day and massage gently for 1 minute.For lasting pain relief, apply the toothpaste to a soft toothbrush and brush your teeth with it twice a day.Be sure to treat all areas that are sensitive to pain.

Children under 12 should not use fingertip application for immediate pain relief.Children up to 6 years old should only use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste.To avoid excessive swallowing, brushing your teeth should only be done under supervision.If additional fluoride is consumed, dentists or doctors should be consulted.
