The active ingredient is Ginkgo biloba dry extract.One hard capsule contains 120 mg of quantified refined dry extract of Ginkgo leaves (Ginkgo biloba L. leaves) (35-67:1).The extract is quantified to contain 26.4-32.4 mg of flavonoids, calculated as flavonol glycosides;3.36-4.08 mg ginkgolides A, B and C and 3.12-3.84 mg bilobalide and contains less than 5 ppm ginkgolic acids.Extractant: Acetone 60% (m/m).

Other ingredients: Capsule contents: lactose monohydrate, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, corn starch, talc, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich].Capsule shell: titanium dioxide (E 171), gelatin, iron (III) oxide (E 172), iron (II,III) oxide (E 172), iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172).Other ingredient in the extract preparation: spray-dried glucose syrup.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to Ginkgo biloba extract or any of the other ingredients of this medicine or if you are pregnant.Please only take Gingonin® after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars.

Dosage

It is recommended to take 240 mg daily for a period of at least 8 weeks.There is no relevant area of application for children and Gingonin® should therefore not be used in children.1 capsule is taken twice daily.

Swallow the capsules with a little water.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the hard capsules.You should only take the preparation after consulting your doctor if you have a pathologically increased bleeding tendency (hemorrhagic diathesis) or if you are being treated with blood-thinning medication at the same time.Talk to your doctor if you are taking the product and are planning to have surgery.As a precaution, the medicine should be discontinued 3 to 4 days before surgery.If you have a seizure disorder (epilepsy), talk to your doctor before taking the hard capsules, as ginkgo preparations may promote the occurrence of further seizures.Taking the drug and efavirenz at the same time is not recommended.

There is no relevant area of application for the hard capsules for children and adolescents.The medicine should not be used in this age group.

There have been no adequate studies on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.The risk of bleeding may be increased and data on safety during pregnancy are insufficient.Therefore, this medicine is contraindicated during pregnancy.This medicine should not be used during breast-feeding as there are no sufficient studies on its safety during breast-feeding.
