Instructions for use for the article Dermapharm basic ointment
Dermapharm Basic Ointment is a product for interval treatment and follow-up treatment of skin diseases that were previously treated with corticosteroids.It is used as part of an interval treatment, also known as phase therapy, for chronic eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.The ointment is also suitable for subsequent follow-up treatment.No prescription is required for this product.
Important notes
Dermapharm basic ointment must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to propylene glycol or sodium benzoate.The ointment should not be placed on open wounds or in the eyes.Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or using any other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines.So far no interactions are known.
Risks during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown.Before using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.There is no experience with regard to impairment of the ability to drive or use machines.
Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation.Sodium benzoate can cause mild irritation to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes.
Application
Always use Dermapharm basic ointment exactly according to the instructions in the package insert.The usual dose is applied to the affected skin areas 2 to 3 times a day and rubbed in lightly.As part of an interval treatment, the ointment and the external corticosteroid should be used alternately for a few days each.Dermapharm basic ointment can also be used over a longer period of time for follow-up treatment.
If you have used a larger amount of Dermapharm basic ointment than you should, you can continue treatment with the specified dosage.No adverse effects are to be expected in the event of a short-term overdose.If you forget to use it, do not use a double dose.If you stop using it, you could jeopardize the success of the treatment.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Dermapharm Basic Ointment can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.If you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, allergic skin reactions such as burning and redness may occur.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Keep medicines out of the reach of children!You must not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack.The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
Ingredients
1 g of ointment contains 1.5 mg citric acid, 5 mg diammonium hydrogen citrate, 50 mg Cithrol GMO 50 (consisting of glycerol (mono, di) oleate, propylene glycol, alpha-tocopherol, palmitoyl ascorbic acid, citric acid), 102.5 mg thick paraffin, 61.5 mg white petroleum jelly, 31.5mg hard paraffin, 31.5 mg microcrystalline hydrocarbons, 50 mg isopropyl myristate, 50 mg medium chain triglycerides, 7 mg magnesium sulfate 7H2O, 3 mg sodium benzoate and 606.5 mg purified water.
Dermapharm basic ointment is a white ointment and is available in packs of 50 g and 100 g.
