The kidney tonic syrup contains extracts from birch leaves (Betula) and juniper berries (Juniperi pseudo-fructus) as active ingredients.The excipients include bee honey, citric acid monohydrate, sucrose and purified water.These ingredients work together to support kidney function.

Areas of application

According to the anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature, kidney tonic syrup is used to stimulate the excretory kidney function.This can be helpful for urinary tract infections as well as metabolic diseases that lead to plaque formation and degenerative changes, such as gout, rheumatism and sclerosis.

Contraindications

Kidney tonic syrup should not be used during pregnancy, if you have previously damaged kidneys or have inflammatory kidney disease.It is also not recommended to use it if you are hypersensitive to birch pollen.

Precautions and warnings

The medicine should not be used without medical advice and does not replace other medicines prescribed by a doctor.If you have symptoms such as blood in the urine, fever, urinary retention, water retention, persistent or severe pain in the lumbar region or unclear symptoms, you should consult a doctor.Use in children under 12 years of age should also be done with medical advice.

Lactation

Like all medicines, kidney tonic syrup should only be used during breastfeeding after consulting a doctor.

Sugar content

The medicine contains sucrose and a mixture of glucose and fructose (honey).If you are intolerance to certain sugars, you should consult a doctor before use.One teaspoon (5 ml) contains about 2 g of a mixture of glucose and fructose, equivalent to about 0.2 bread units (BU).Kidney tonic can be harmful to teeth (caries).

Interactions

To date, there are no known interactions with other medications.

Duration of application

Treatment of an acute illness should be completed after 2 weeks.If there is no improvement within 2-5 days, see a doctor.The duration of treatment for chronic diseases should be discussed with the doctor.

Side effects

Long-term use or overdose can cause kidney damage.Due to the component Betula pendula (birch leaves), allergic reactions such as rash, swelling and itching can occur.In such cases, the medication should be discontinued and a doctor consulted if necessary.

Storage

Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container and the outer packaging.Shelf life is limited after opening, store in the refrigerator at 2-8°C!

10 g (8.4 ml) contain: Active ingredient: extract (10: 1.3) from Betula, Folium, Juniperi pseudofructus (5: 1.5) (extract agents: drinking water, sucrose, honey, citric acid monohydrate) 10 g.
