The kidney tonic syrup contains extracts from birch leaves (Betula) and juniper berries (Juniperi pseudo-fructus) as active ingredients.The extracts are made with drinking water, sucrose, honey and citric acid monohydrate.Excipients include bee honey, citric acid 1-water, sucrose and purified water.
Areas of application
According to the anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature, kidney tonic syrup is used to stimulate the excretory kidney function in urinary tract infections.It can also help with metabolic diseases that lead to deposits and degenerative changes, such as gout, rheumatism and sclerosis.
Contraindications
Kidney tonic syrup should not be used during pregnancy, if the kidney has already been damaged or if you have inflammatory kidney disease.The medicine must also not be used if you are hypersensitive to birch pollen.
Precautions and warnings
The use of kidney tonic syrup should not be carried out without medical advice and does not replace other medicines prescribed by the doctor.If there is blood in the urine, fever, urinary retention, water retention, persistent or severe pain in the lumbar region or unclear symptoms, you should consult a doctor.Use in children under 12 years of age should also be discussed with a doctor.
Lactation
Like all medicines, kidney tonic syrup should only be used during breastfeeding after consulting a doctor.
Sugar content
The medicine contains sucrose and a mixture of glucose and fructose (honey).If you are intolerance to certain sugars, kidney tonic syrup should only be taken after consulting a doctor.1 teaspoon (5 ml) contains approx. 2 g of a mixture of glucose and fructose, corresponding to approx. 0.2 bread units (BE).Kidney tonic syrup can be harmful to teeth (caries).
Interactions
To date, there are no known interactions with other medications.
Duration of application
Treatment of an acute illness should be completed after 2 weeks.If there is no improvement within 2-5 days, see a doctor.The duration of treatment for chronic diseases requires consultation with the doctor.
Side effects
Long-term use or overdose can cause kidney damage.Due to the component Betula pendula (birch leaves), allergic reactions such as rash, swelling and itching can occur.In this case, the medicine should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted if necessary.

Storage
Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container and the outer packaging.Shelf life is limited after opening, store in the refrigerator at 2-8°C!

10 g (8.4 ml) contain: Active ingredient: extract (10: 1.3) from Betula, Folium, Juniperi pseudofructus (5: 1.5) (extract agents: drinking water, sucrose, honey, citric acid monohydrate) 10 g.
