What is Zymafluor 0.25 mg and what is it used for?

Zymafluor 0.25 mg contains the active ingredient sodium fluoride, which is used to prevent tooth decay.The active ingredient sodium fluoride belongs to a group of medicines that are used to prevent tooth decay.Zymafluor supplies the teeth with fluoride, which increases their resistance to tooth decay.Fluoride intake should begin before teeth erupt and continue throughout life.

What should you consider before taking Zymafluor 0.25 mg?

Zymafluor 0.25 mg must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to sodium fluoride or any of the other ingredients.Zymafluor should not be given even if further systemic fluoride is used, for example with drinking, mineral or table water and/or fluoridated table salt.Before taking it, you should talk to your doctor, dentist or pharmacist to avoid an overdose.This is especially important if your child already uses other sources of fluoride, such as fluoride toothpastes or fluoridated table salt.

In premature and malborn infants, caries prevention through systemic fluoride intake should only begin after they have reached a body weight of 3000 g and are experiencing normal physical development.In the Federal Republic of Germany, the fluoride content in drinking water is - with exceptions - below 0.3 mg/l.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or using other medicines, especially those that contain aluminum, calcium and magnesium salts.Do not give Zymafluor at the same time as milk or dairy products.

How to take Zymafluor 0.25 mg?

Always take Zymafluor 0.25 mg exactly as directed in this leaflet.The dosage depends on the age of the child and should be determined taking into account other fluoride intake.To ensure that only a systemic form of fluoride intake is used, the pediatrician or dentist should take into account the intake of fluoridated table salt, fluoride tablets, fluoride-rich mineral water and the fluoride content of the drinking water when recommending the dosage.

Zymafluor 0.25 mg is usually taken as a single daily dose.For infants and young children, the tablet can be crushed and dissolved in a little water, tea or fruit juice, but not milk.As soon as the children have mastered the ability to suck safely, Zymafluor should be slowly moved in the mouth, alternating right and left between the cheek and gums, and dissolved there.The best time to use is in the evening after brushing your teeth.

Application should begin as early as possible and be carried out consistently at least during the first 12 years of life.Continuing prophylaxis into adulthood is recommended.

What side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, Zymafluor 0.25 mg can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.At recommended doses, fluoride has no significant side effects.However, in rare cases, a rash, reddening of the skin and hives may occur, but these disappear quickly when treatment is discontinued.Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported in individual cases.

How to store Zymafluor 0.25 mg?

Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children.You must not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the label and carton after “Use by”.Do not store the medicine above 30 °C and protect it from moisture in the original packaging.Zymafluor 0.25 mg should be used within 9 months after opening.

One tablet contains 0.553 mg sodium fluoride (corresponding to 0.25 mg fluoride) as a medicinally active ingredient.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, saccharin sodium 2 H2O and vanillin.

Zymafluor 0.25 mg are round, biconvex, white tablets and are available in packs of 250 tablets.
