Iscador M is an anthroposophical medicine that contains a fermented aqueous extract from apple tree mistletoe (Viscum album).It is used to stimulate the form and integration forces in adults to dissolve and reintegrate independent growth processes.This includes the treatment of malignant and benign tumor diseases, the prevention of tumor recurrences after operations and the treatment of defined precursors of cancer (precancerous lesions).

1. What Iscador M is and what it is used for?

Iscador M is an anthroposophic medicine for the extended treatment of tumor diseases.It is used to strengthen the body's formative and integrative powers and to dissolve independent growth processes.This includes the treatment of malignant and benign tumor diseases, the prevention of tumor recurrences after operations and the treatment of defined precursors of cancer (precancerous lesions).

2. What do you need to consider before using Iscador M?

Iscador M must not be used in cases of known intolerance to mistletoe preparations, acute inflammatory or high fever diseases, chronic granulomatous diseases and autoimmune diseases with severe symptoms, as well as in cases of hyperthyroidism with palpitations.In the case of primary brain and spinal cord tumors or brain metastases with a risk of increased intracranial pressure, Iscador M should only be used if specifically prescribed by a doctor.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Effects of Iscador M on pregnancy, birth and child development have not been studied.Caution is advised when used during pregnancy and breastfeeding and consultation with a doctor is required.

Interactions with other drugs: There are no studies available on interactions with other substances that influence the immune system.If appropriate preparations are used promptly, careful dosing and monitoring of appropriate immune parameters is recommended.Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using other medicines.

3. How to use Iscador M?

Always use Iscador M exactly as your doctor has told you.If possible, the subcutaneous injection should be carried out near the tumor or metastasis or in different parts of the body.Inflamed skin areas or radiation fields should be avoided.The injection technique should be learned by an experienced person.Iscador ampoules should be used immediately after opening.

The dosage is individual and determined by the doctor.At the beginning of therapy, gradual dosing with Iscador M Series 0 is recommended.The optimal dose must be determined individually based on responses such as change in subjective well-being, temperature response, immunological response and local inflammatory response.

In the maintenance phase, treatment continues at the determined optimal dose.To avoid habituation effects, rhythmic use with alternation of strengths and doses, rhythmic injection intervals and the introduction of breaks is recommended.

The treating doctor decides on the duration of use.The duration of use is in principle not limited and depends on the respective risk of recurrence and the individual condition of the patient.

4. What side effects are possible?

Like all medicines, Iscador M can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include a slight increase in body temperature, localized inflammatory reactions around the injection site, temporary mild swelling of regional lymph nodes, allergic or allergy-like reactions, activation of pre-existing inflammation and inflammatory irritation of superficial veins in the injection area.In rare cases, chronic granulomatous inflammation, autoimmune diseases and symptoms of increased intracranial pressure may occur.

5. How to store Iscador M?

Iscador M should be stored in a refrigerator (2°C - 8°C).Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the ampoules and carton.

6. Further information

Iscador M is a clear and colorless to yellow colored solution for injection.The strength in mg in the drug name indicates the amount of fresh plant material used to produce one ampoule of Iscador M.The other ingredients are sodium chloride and water for injections.

Iscador M is available in various series packs and variety packs, each containing 7 ampoules of 1 ml solution for injection.The series packs contain injection solutions of different strengths, while the variety packs contain injection solutions of the same strength.
